Harmony Home Control

Well the least I can do is clue you all in on what’s coming…
stand by.

Yea, no release notes over there either…, why do I bother, seriously.
Yea, so far the only thing of note is screen lock is turned on and can’t be disabled, nice…, oh yea and it slipped out, this beta wasn’t supposed to release until next week…
They’ve already pulled it…

Call me “Mr. special” !!!, c’mon now folks join me in a little song?

I am sure you live near their severs, Mike. It’s yet to reach us in Jersey. As such it’s too windy here tonight like crazy and may be the updates are getting blown…:   let us know what happened to you integration though tmrw morning after the new update… Hehehehehehe!

Thanks for the loving words Ron!, AV volume went down 30db all on its own, other than that thing’s as annoying as it’s always been…

You made my day!!! Since my heart surgery last May, this is probably the first day I am laughing my a@s off and literally rolling on the floor… hahahhahaha! Laughter is the best medicine they say! Keep it up, my friend!

I was doing too many things at once  missed the second digit all together.

Bummer there is no help from the new version. I just order a second hub for another room. Sure hope they get them working. Actually I like the device anyway because it controls my ps3 also which is really nice.

Here’s hoping they fix this some time soon.

My Harmony Home Hubs just updated to 4.3.41 but I can’t find any release notes on this version.

I wonder if this is a fix for ST integration ?

I Still can’t get either of my Home Hubs to connect to ST. Maybe I am doing it wrong ?

Mine too. Unfortunately, it did not fix the ST issues.

Would it be so difficult for someone at ST to reach out to someone at Harmony and get this fixed? I am sure Harmony has at least one engineer devoted to integrations / partnerships.

Have a search in their forums for smartthings, you’ll see the ST community has about gone mutinous over there… So unless an ST member actually knows someone with pull at Logitech I think we’re doing all we can do about the situation. Personal feeling?, I don’t think Logitech gives a crap…

Even though I started a few threads there and gave them crap, this is one integration I don’t care about… But I do give them crap every other day!

I can’t tell you how obnoxious it is that there’s no way to reorder devices in the Harmony to issue an ST device command before the entertainment devices.

I mean why can’t this kind of thing escalate to a VP-VP level discussion between companies? Surely a title “VP at Samsung” can get someone on the phone at Harmony.

I bought a NEEO at @Mike_Maxwell recommendation. So hopefully that will be much nicer and have a more responsive company behind it.

Exactly, one would think…

BTW, if NEEO turns out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, then by all means please praise my recommendation! (though I don’t recall telling any one to go for it), otherwise you didn’t hear it from me right?
It is/was a slickStarter after all…

I am told by ST support that they are working with Logitech. A little over two weeks ago they told me to expect a fix in “A few weeks”. I think Logitech should care about this They advertise SmartThings integration as part of the Home Hub features. If they don’t fix it they could have a class action suit on their hands. Sony lost a class action recently regarding features they claimed the PS Vita had which never worked out of the box. I forget the feature but they sent me email that I was a part of the class action.

Well, I’m sure they will get it fixed at some point.
Were it just this issue, I think most ST folk would be happy.
From my POV there’s some fundamental flaws in Harmony’s baseline IR architecture, serious flaws in the overall HA integration into their IR ecosystem (not just the ST integration), major limitations in their macro programming environment, yada yada yada…
I know there’s plenty of ST folk happy with their Harmony remotes, I’m not one of them (and I’m one of the lucky few that has a fully functional integration currently)
If you are/were a previous Harmony user, and were completely happy with their ecosystem, then you will probably be happy once the ST integration is fixed.
For me, it’s just too limiting (as it was before I bought the ultimate), I thought this would change with the ultimate, nope. I can get 90% of what I want out of it, but the last 10% usually includes a deal breaker, or some sort of hack I need to create on the ST side to get around the Harmony limitations.
The biggest problem I currently face, for which there is no work around, is the inability to re-order anything except IR power commands, and the inability to insert HA device control commands within the beginning or middle of Harmony activity cycles.
It’s clear that HA was/is an after thought, a bolt on to their existing IR based activity code, rather than being a seamless unified object based schema as you see in ST.

I emailed Sylvain to see if he can get HA device reordering into the March release since they’re going to be adding the ability to program HA stuff through the desktop app. We’ll see if he can make it happen.

The NEEO looks great and once they added the ifttt channel and Plex integration some of my friends bought it too. I was glad you mentioned it to me before the kickstarter ended, that black metal remote looks sweet!

Got the new firmware update for Harmony home ultimate today and well, it’s still a no go…

My Harmony integration has been working for a few months both ways now. I had the same issues early on though. And I have not tried to install any new actions recently. Afraid to touch anything.

My hub and remote just updated themselves to the new firmware today and everything is still working. Out of curiosity I found the release notes which do mention SmartThings fixes (for the desktop/myharmony.com setup software which maybe is what I used previously when things started working, possibly).

Rebooting hub (both) and its a no go…

Same here. I can open the Harmony App and add SmartThings which opens a browser and lauches SmartThings site. I then grant permission for Hub to have access to my devices. Trying to act on these devices fails.

From Smart Things I open the Labs and try to add a Harmony Hub. Discovery see’s no hubs. They are never found.

@Dlee You say you had the same issues early on. What did you do to resolve them ?
What are you doing with the remote, perhaps the issue is the actions were are

I see the release notes were posted today which explains why I didn’t see them yesterday.

For me the hub is identified and after selecting a device a barrage of exceptions like device authorization, general exception… Bah, blah and some more blah…
