H801 RGBW Power Supply Question

I just got some H801 rgbw modules and I am just starting to hook them up. I got some cheap power supplies off of Amazon that are 12V 2A https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KZ2ZQE8 They are pretty high rated, but I just want to make sure I have the right power supply.

I am running 1 strand of these LED https://www.banggood.com/5M-RGBW-RGBWW-SMD-5050-Non-Waterproof-LED-Flexible-Strip-Light-for-Christmas-Decor-DC12V-p-1206227.html

I’m just using these for a closet light to be paired with a open/close sensor to turn on when I open up the door so they won’t constantly be on.

Any help would be appreciated.

12 volts times 2 amp = 24 watts
24 watts times 75% = 18 watts (usually recommend don’t go over 75% capacity)

Your LED string rated at 14.4 watts
Controllers don’t use much power

Should be okay. Just don’t place power supply where it gets wrapped up in clothing or something insulates it and it overheats.

Thanks for the reply and the explanation. I think I’m gonna get some command strips or something to wall mount the controller, and I’ll make sure that the plug is far from getting overheated.

I finally just got my FTDI in the mail today so I can begin to set these things up!
