Recently I’ve been getting double (duplicate) notices on my iPhone when an invited guest enters. I have a Schlage BE469 lock and a Samsung Smartthings third generation wi-fi hub. My phone is an iPhone 13 mini. Since I set up the guest access feature about a year ago until recently I had no such problem. I contacted Support about this a month ago and they suggested putting the lock and the hub in exclusion and then doing a complete setup again. I did it, but I still had (and have) the double notifications on my phone for each guest entry. Any suggestions??
It’s a combination bug with the Schlage lock, mesh delays and the stock device handler. You can try to use this device handler which puts in a fix for the issue caused by the lock sending a delayed event (it sends two events for each unlock event and if the mesh delays it further then the stock device handler doesn’t handle it correctly). You can also do a z-wave repair which may temporarily help.
I don’t think it is limited to Schlage locks. I’ve seen it on Yale locks as well. The bug has been reported to engineering, waiting on an update to the issue.
That’s true Brad, it’s not limited to Schalge; Yale, IDLock and other brands also exhibit the issue which is primarily caused by the mesh delays (so it’s not specific to a lock) - but due to a quirk in the Schlage firmware it compounds the problem as it also sends packets out of order - so you’ll see it more often with Schlage than other locks even when the mesh delays aren’t a problem.
Best money ever spent for software!! I just ordered your device handler (Universal Enhanced Z-Wave Lock Device Handler) and installed it. My double notification guest entry is now fixed…and boy am I a happy camper. I’ve been struggling with this issue for a long time and nothing else worked. Your download and install instructions were easy to follow even to a novice like me. Thanks again. That was the best software money I ever spent!!!
Thank you very much for this advice. This morning I downloaded your device handler and installed it. It fixed my double notification problem and works like a charm. In addition, your download and installation instructions were easy to follow even for a novice like me. I thank you ever so much for your reply to my post on the SmartThings community website. Your solution for the price of an individual license was the best money I’ve ever spent for software! Thanks again!
