Get Alexa to Ask a Question?

Is there any way to get Alexa to ask a question and take a certain action based on the response?

For example, I’d like to create a piston in webCoRE that triggers when the power through my TV outlet goes above a certain amount (indicating that the TV has been turned on), to have Alexa say, “I’ve noticed you’ve turned the TV on. Would you like me to hit the lights?” and then turn off the lights, or leave them on, based on my response.

Any creative solutions to achieving this? Or am I out of luck?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Echo Speaks can do this (search the Community); though the simpler answer is to just have patience.

Alexa’s AI and various abilities are continuously improving. It is very likely that this will be added as a feature, perhaps surprisingly sooner … or later. 6 to 24 months?

Echo speaks can only verbalize… She can’t wait for an answer…

I agree it’s only a matter of time though for Amazon to add ask and answer…

It’s been said this can be built using Echo Speaks…

Thanks @storageanarchy - looks like that’s about as close as I’m going to get right now, and it’s close enough! I’ll give it a shot this weekend, and look forward to the day when I can just answer “yes” instead of “Alexa, yes.”
