I would like to express my sincere Tks to LeeF
For the last 6 months I was building my smart home using Samsung Smartthings hub , I have everything pretty much integrated except my CADDX/Interlogic security panel NX-8e, my current setup has 25 zones all wireless ( smoke, water-leak, doors and Motions + Key fobs and LCD keypads ) is been working flawlessly for the last 10 years.
I was very close to thought out my security panel because of lacking of integration with Smartthings until LeeF show up with his Interface so I got the Alarm System Bridge (main interface) + the Trigger Relay Module from him
So far my main problem is resolved I do have my NX-8e + all sensors in to my Smartthings app so all the expectations are pretty much cover very well
Things to highlight
1.- Instructions very clear and straight forward.
2.- Hardware interface quality build excellent
3.- Change Status on the Smartthings Panel App on events very very fast.
4.- Pre and Post Installation support A1, in my case I had some wrong setup he was able to guide me in the right direction to fix the underline problem on my setup.
5.- not only Smartthings integration but Alexa too that is a big big plus
6. Integration with Webcore, not just for build notifications but it pretty much open a door for an unlimited complex automation scenarios
One thing I would like to mention I did not spent a lot of time on this but I was able to add all the NX-8e Child Tiles ( zones) in to Action Tiles and I can see the current status for those who has Action tiles on an Amazon fire tablet this is a plus probably a little bit more works needs to pun tin this space but it has a lot of potential
This integration saved me to spend a lot I mean a lot of money in replacing my current CADDX/Interlogic security panel NX-8e setup ( all 25 sensors , keyfobs and LCD Keypads) with all brand new stuff, excellent piece of work and very inexpensive solution this is a win win
Tks a lot LeeF
I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to @LeeFL as well. I’m from Australia, and unbeknown to us, the NX8-V2 panel here has a different firmware, (but it’s branded the same). None of the features worked. And just about everything that could go wrong went wrong. I shorted two boards (I was escaping dropbears at the time, and survived, so all good).
LeeFL sent through so much help. Tailoring firmware especially for my weird NX8-V2, sending through debugging software, special device handlers, and spending hours scouring the web trying to figure out why my board was weird. Currently our private messages stand at 243…it’s a superb level of support.
Given the time zone constraints, it’s further testament to LeeFL’s support.
@LeeFL where do I IM? I have a new account and I dont think its giving me access to IM. Am I missing it? Are you talking about just replying here or like a private message?
uhm I am not an expert Leef is, but I had similar issue, I did not use a LCD Keypad to configure the serial interface but DL900 software via NX590e ( network interface) and rechecking everything i missed one bit of the configuration that was causing that problem
also sometimes what you need is a reset on the interface
Thanks for he advice. I have checked all configured settings several times but still nothing. I should mention also that the “config” and “debug” options on the web interface crash.
Mike, I’ll help you with this via IM, rather than cluttering this thread
I have some special diagnostic firmware to help track down issues.
Looks like you tried to IM me previously, but the stupid forum didn’t highlight that there was a new message on our IM, so I didn’t notice it. Apologies for not seeing that previously, but I blame this forum
Just to follow-up. I’m still helping Mike track down the issue (believe it’s a problem with the serial connection).
The “crashed” pages, are a problem with the Safari browser specifically, which is a problem because apparently Safari can’t handle simple HTML.(it’s not a crash of the device, it’s just the browser not handling the page)
If Safari was still available for Windows then I could maybe work out what Safari doesn’t like, but I’m not an iPhone user so can’t test it on that. I’ll see if I can find an old windows version
Edit: I managed to find an old download of Safari 5.1.7 for windows, and it works fine it that, so I’m guessing whatever newer version Mike is using is more broken than Safari 5.1.7
I have a NX6v2 Alarm with Zone Expander, 16 zones.
I am very interested in this integration. Unfortunately I am unable to send a PM to you as I have only just joined.
I am in Australia. The panels are marketed as Hills Reliance R12 (for the NX6) here.
Hi @austwhite
The Hills Reliance has a slightly different firmware version, but working with @GeorgeCastanza I believe we’ve ironed out the issues with that. There’s just one minor improvement I still plan to make, which is fairly specific to his unusual setup.
I just build a special version of my firmware that handles the minor differences with the Hills Reliance panels.
I’ll IM you, and hopefully you can reply to that.
Does anyone have tips on installing the NX-584E module on to an NX-8V2? The printed instructions are incredibly sparse. The pinouts section has a bunch of acrynoms which are defined nowhere!
I believe that you just connect the 3 screw terminals on the NX584e panel to the terminals with the same name (which are the same terminals that your keypads connect to) on the main panel.
I’m sure someone here that has installed one can confirm though
