The reason why it works is because the fault is in the GE bulb itself. It loses track of where the network is. But it hasn’t actually been unpaired. So just turning it off and then on will often fix the problem.

The only reason that isn’t step one is because if you have a bunch of these, going around each one and turning it off and then on can be annoying. In step one you attempt to have the same thing happen for all the bulbs by just unplugging the hub for 15 minutes and then plug it back in, that way you don’t have to go around to each individual bulb.
