I wonder if @Tyler can chime in on this? I sounds like good progress is being made! I’d love to see dual control!
I have one. Should work fine with a group of lights, too. Looks really slick with a custom device type to set the color fade/transition time
Manu,
Any news about the firmware update?
When will the devices with the new firmware be available?
Hey Arjay,
The update is certified since a few days (version 020E.2010009B) and new produced devices are already shipping with the new version. Currently it’s too early to say you can buy one on amazon since there are also devices with the former firmware version in stock. In approximately one month it should be safe to get the latest version from amazon. Until then only devices ordered through the dresden elektronik shop are safe to have latest version. Updating older firmware via OTA is also possible but requires a RaspBee. Hopefully the update situation will change in future so other gateways/hubs will support it.
The ZigBee OTA file itself is provided on our server.

Any program to mail in for a firmware update?
Anyone in the US with a RaspBee that would be willing to volunteer?
Hi I just found this page. Looks like THE place to get the info I need.
I just bought a new house and I want to add automated lights as I can afford to. The philips stuff is so over priced though. I am a coder and i’ve experimented with android enought to know that I can make something work there. And I love the LED light strips particularly the ones that are individually addressable. I know I can accomplish what I want with that at a faction of the cost. Sourcing led light strips online is far cheaper than best buy. But of course it also has to look professional and have clean and safe installation.
Here’s a practical example: In the kitchen I want to add led light strips under the cabinets that shine down on the counter tops. I found a very small PIR mini sensor to detect motion. I’d add code to have the light come up slowly and stay on for a bit, etc. But I’d like to also be able to wirelessly control the color and brightness, have a stay on mode, disable the motion sensor, or whatever is clever. I’d like to be able to bridge with something like the Amazon Echo to handle voice commands for my lights. Or use iphone apps and other compatible devices to control color or whatever those apps control. But I don’t want to be limited to only the commands and options that the zigbee has built in.
I’m assuming I’ll need a hub to control the lights. I’m looking for a way to make my own homebrew lights (ardunio probably) that will get commands from the hub.
I might be posting in the wrong area but it seems like the people on here are in the thick of it and know what’s possible. Is there any way to “unofficially support” the ZLL api or make my own lights that will talk with that system?
Hi manu,
I have bought the RaspBee to update the firmware of my fls pp. In deCONZ I see the fls and communicate with it (e.g. turn light on/off) but the firmware update doesn’t will start. I selected in the software your linked firmware file and the fls device, but if I click on “Update” the progress only change to “Queued” and nothing happens since an hour. Do I something wrong?

Hey gus484,
I assume you started deCONZ (Version 2.0) from commandline as described in the documentation? The documentation will be updated shortly because we changed the way to start the application.
Please start deCONZ from either the Startmenu > Programming > deCONZ
or as alternative from commandline:
$ deCONZ-autostart.sh
Both will run the application from a script which automatically will download new OTA firmware files. Now you only need to check that OTA update is enabled (default is yes). In the WebApp click on Menu > Settings and ‘Show Advanced Settings’ Button: In the list of options check that ‘Otau Server’ is set.
The Update should start shortly and is indicated by a blue info box on the WebApp main page this may take approx 10 minutes and the LED of the RaspBee will blink very fast. After the update is finished you need to power cycle the FLS in order to finish the update in the device, this takes ~1 minute after that the white channel will be available as separated dimmable light.
Regards,
Manu
Hi manu,
thanks for your fast replay Yes, I started deCONZ from the commandline. I tried your instruction and the WebApp show me an update. I started the update in the settings menu and it looks that it finished successfully. But the App still show only one light and deCONZ say that the sw build id of the fls is “020C.2000004F”. I’ve restart/reset the RaspBee and fls more times and let it run for some hours, but the situation doesn’t change.

My FLS-PP lp has worked a charm for months, as seen in this very cringe worthy video made for a mate who has no understanding of SmartThings (so please mind me talking as if im addressing small children haha)
However as of last week i keep finding that the FLS-PP lp gets stuck in the on state, and i have to unplug and replug in the unit to get it to work again and respond . . . its very close to my hubs (both hue & smartthings) and is usually on and off several times a day as its linked to a motion sensor to only light up when motion is in the room.
any ideas on why this may be ?
cheers kyle
Excuse my eyes but what is that LED strip in? I can’t seem to make it out?
The FLS-PP lp is just connected to the standard LED STRIP that comes in a PULSE 80 CUBIC JELLYFISH AQUARIUM . . . as shown better here:
Oh sweet! That looks awesome!
will be better when this doesn’t keep freezing up haha cheers though
I’ve had issues with my FLS-PP controllers hanging online and requiring a powercycle since the day I got them. Occasionally I also have problems with the Hue bulbs, but the FLS-PP ballasts are frequently “hung”. Powercycling them fixes it.
I’ve ordered myself a raspbee premium to do the firmware update, so I’m hoping that the hanging issue goes away then too.
I am pretty sure I have some strong broad spectrum RF interference periodically (as I have problems on all my 2.4 and 5ghz “networks” of all kinds)… but haven’t managed to find the right affordable gear to do long-term spectrum analysis.
Hi gus484,
Took a while to figure out the cause of why the update doesn’t start.
Can you please check the deCONZ Network Settings for proper endpoint configuration to match the values in the following screenshot.
The very important thing here is the 0x0019 (OTA Server) in the ‘In clusters’ field.
Next week we will release a update to fix this automatically until then it should work by setting the parameters manually.
Let me know if the problem still remains (hopefully not)
Have you seen the issue that various people are having with a ‘hung’ controller in that it’ll stop responding and has to be power cycled?
Hi Benji,
I haven’t had the problem in my own setup which is running since a few months now. However a few users reported the behavior in connection with some older Philips devices in the network (to our knowledge very few Hues and Living Colors/Living Whites from the early days). These sporadically do some weird non-standard things with a message counter which may cause above problems. Do you have the chance to update the FLS firmware - you may also contact me via PM.
Also can you please provide some info about your devices in the ZigBee network (model-id, version)?
