I, for one, would like to thank @doncaruana for the contributions he makes to the community. He built device handlers I could use and have worked. The fact is, if I had reported the issue and gave my feedback sooner, others would probably not have had a problem. Let me make clear, I personally found a satisfactory solution to the problem I had using resources written by @doncaruana. I’m sure if I had an inclination to put it in the time and effort into figuring out how to add the led capability, I could modify his DTH. But since I don’t, I am thankful to him and the other developers out there who do have that inclination to create the many Smart Apps and Alternate Device Handlers I use.
I’m glad the issue is being looked at, and hope that @TheSmartestHouse continue to engage this developer.
Hi Don, we did not mean it this way at all! You mentioned in a different thread that fixing the handler’s other issue would probably take too much time so we weren’t sure if you had the time to address the issue since we realize it’s not your full-time job We’d really like for you to keep supporting the handlers and continue to work with you. You should have received an email from us earlier today as well so sorry if you saw the post first.
Okay fair enough. The one to take too much time was trying to make the slider go to 100 vs 99. The zwave standard for dimming levels is 0-99, but the platform standard for sliders is 0 to 100. So the acrobatics it takes to trick it are what I was referring to.
Like I said - I’ll have a look in the next couple of days.
Wow glad to see everyone coming together here! Appreciate all the work you guys are putting into this, if I had the know-how I would no doubt be more involved, as it is I struggle to figure out the basics…looking forward to what is to come.
@dtm2525 - please check out the updated DTH and let me know if you are still having issues. If you have github integration set up, you can just pull down the update. If not, here it is: [Release] Zooz Zen21 switch v2
I know this was an issue because these switches send 2 reports (physical and logical) for each on/off, so I removed one. I’m not seeing this behavior on mine though. Anyone else still seeing this?
I love the Zooz system. I just purchased 50+ Zen 22 dimmers to replace all the switches in my house… Support is good, and people are super friendly with issues and suggestions to make the product better…
Just a couple of issues that you have to watch out for… If you have just a single switch config… It’s a super easy swap… Just look at the back of the switch and follow the directions… As for the 2 switch (3 way) config. Thats pretty ease even if the load is on one switch and the power is on the other… I have the diagram included…
Here is the diagram of doing a 4 way… or more… just keep the color wires as shown and you should be set… also… the 4 way switch they they use is a little different then the one I got at Home Depot… I had to do both black on one side and the corresponding all white on the other side… It makes it easy if you have a bunch of 3 & 4 way switches to have the load and the power in the same box… If the load is somewhere else other then where the power is… You might not be able to use the Zooz… It really likes to have power and load in the same box or just one downstream.
@TheSmartestHouse hoping you can help me. I just installed two ZOOZ switches, the Zen 23 v2 on/off toggle and the Zen22 v2 dimmer.
I can not get the Zen 23 v2 on/off toggle included in my network for the life of me. These were bought new from Amazon.
I have a strong mesh of 30+ devices and have had no issues including other devices farther away and in the same vicinity (including the ZOOZ 22 Dimmer).
The switch is getting power and proving local control but no dice on inclusion. I’ve followed the instructions and quickly toggled it switch 3 times, but still nothing.
What am i doing wrong? Is this device a lemon? Thanks!
You may just need to reset it. Here’s how to do it:
Tap the menu icon in your SmartThings app
Tap Hub is online
Tap Z-Wave Utilities
Tap General Device Exclusion
The app will show this message: “Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions to remove the Z-Wave device from My SmartThings.” There will also be a spinning circle next to the message “Exclusion Mode Active”
While Exclusion Mode is active, toggle the switch DOWN 3 times quickly (off-off-off)
The app will confirm device exclusion
Tap Done
Once exclusion is completed, please try adding the device again. Click on Add Thing in the ST app and toggle the switch UP 3 times quickly (on-on-on).
Thanks for the help! I managed to get it included by following your inclusion instructions at the end there. Toggling the switch UP 3 times (on-on-on) allowed me to added the switch on the first try. The instructions that come with the switch had me toggling on/off (on-off-on) 3 times. Sounds like there are incorrect.
Hi Greg, it looks like you received the outdated version of the manual, sorry about that! All of the version 2 switches are to be included by toggling the switch on-on-on. We’ve verified that all online manuals and current printed documentation has the new updated instructions. Again, we’re sorry for the mix-up!
