I’m trying to have a ST Virtual Sensor trigger when an email notification is received from a WiFi connected Water Sensor. The device cannot be connected to ST (I’ve tried the api route as well). There are two outputs from the app:
An email notification
Android Notification.
Leads attempted:
Forwarding the email notification to IFFT trigger@applett.iftt.com connected to the virtual sensor, but get stuck at the IFTT email verification process.
Also tried the IFTT android to email notification but cant connect that to my sensor?
Created an account in webcore but not sure how to create a piston from the email notification?
I’m not sure what the options are for processing incoming emails in Webcore, you might want to ask over on their forum.
And at the moment I’m hesitant to suggest anything with Ifttt because they’re going through their big business model change and I don’t know what’s going to end up being possible or even existing.
If you have an iOS device, iOS 14 (currently in beta, due to be released anytime now) has added a very nice email trigger option to shortcuts. Put that together with homebridge and it should be a good option for triggering on incoming emails.
Thanks for the quick reply, unfortunately my main device is an android, although I could gain access to an iphone to give your suggestion a try. I’ll also take your advice and see if @joshua_lyon might have a solution. I am about a week into the Sharp tools trial, so maybe that is an alternative as well. Thanks again!
Thanks @jkp I’ll explore this option! If possible, would be able to provide me a direct link to creating the integration with WebCore as well ? Much appreciated. Thanks John
Is there really STILL no simple and easy way of doing this?
Sometimes I feel so out of touch with how difficult some things must be ‘behind the scenes’. lol
Like, this one seems like the kind of thing that should have been ubiquitous years ago (“Yep. Just click this checkbox, enter your details, and POOF!”), and yet, here I am, getting ready to follow some instructions to set up something that might/probably will meet the need. lol
