[EDGE] Universal Enhanced Z-Wave Lock Driver for Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, IDLock, Popp, Danalock, August Pro, Keywe, Philia, Samsung

Does it look like you will be able to provide edge version of your drivers or non groovy versions of your apps? Just wondering what will still be working after September 30th. Thanks!

Are there any Edge drivers available for Schlage Z-Wave locks? I am trying to migrate to Edge and it seems like @RBoy would rather spend his time complaining about SmartThings than provide answers to his customers.

There is a migration FAQ on the Rboy web page that seems to indicate he’s working on something for Edge…

And we are less that 3 weeks ago and he wont tell us anything. So i am planning for nothing from him.

Sadly, this is necessary if you cannot afford downtime when the changeover occurs.

Yeah, it is a bit frustrating. I’ve been looking at controlling locks through SharpTools, but haven’t done too much with it hoping that Rboy will come through…

Wow! I just checked Amazon. Samsung Smart Hub is selling at $364!

How is this possible? … The price jumped exponentially ridiculuous.

I see it for $135.

That’s Aeotec.

I bought my Samsung 5 years ago for roughy 70.

The Aeotec hub IS the SmartThings hub. (specifically its electrically a Samsung V.3 hub in Aeotec clothing) Samsung does not manufacture the device themselves anymore

Thanks.

But mine is still legit Smart Hub, yes?

They currently support the v. 2, v. 3, and the WiFi mesh hubs in addition to the Aeotec - so if you have one of those it works with SmartThings. if that’s what you are asking?

Yes. However, Samsung thinks so little of its hub that they never bothered bringing it in-house after all these years owning SmartThings, despite Samsung being the world’s largest PCB manufacturer.

The migration FAQ on RBoy’s site has been updated. Also, the latest LUM code indicates it’s been updated as “Prep for New Platform”. The update is dated 8/25. So, it appears that RBoy is working on something. Yay!

Universal Enhanced Z-Wave Plus Lock Device Handler - Version 05.03.04

  • (New) Added support for Automations (scenes and routines) for special locks features (Auto lock, One touch locking, Code entry, Audio, Invalid code, Alarm mode, Alarm sensitivity, Tamper, Battery, Lock state)
  • (Fix) Fix for ‘Untitled’ labels in new SmartThings mobile app
  • (New) Improved support for Ultraloq U-Bolt Pro

Please make sure that your lock is within 20ft of a buffering device/repeater for best performance and reliability.

NOTES

  • The UI does not reflect the new changes due to platform caching. Force the cache to clear by changing the device handler to Z-Wave Device and then back to this enhanced device handler from the IDE; you may need to sign out of the ST mobile app and sign back in. If that doesn’t work, you may need to exclude your device, delete the device handler, reinstall and re-pair the lock.

5 days before the transition from DTH to Drivers. I have to question the need to install another DTH. How does this help us with the transition?

If you’re running custom DTHs, those are going to continue working for some time yet. They won’t go away in five days or even five weeks. RBoy’s DTH remains extremely useful to some people who are using them in business, an Airbnb, etc. because they provide features the current Edge driver sorely lacks. For that reason, more than a few of us are in no hurry to transition to less capable drivers. .

This latest update provides useful new features and can serve as a bridge until RBoy can deliver an Edge-based driver or groovy is deprecated (whichever comes first). @RBoy has made it clear he fully intends to deliver a new driver, but is waiting on SmartThings to deliver on certain API’s or capabilities that are needed to reproduce the features of this DTH.

Do we think the @RBoy smartapps and DTHs are going to make it past December? What is your Plan B for your Airbnbs?

Any of @RBoy’s work that relies on groovy won’t survive past 12/31, assuming SmartThings holds fast to that date. My hope is that we will have new SmartApps and Edge drivers by then. If not, well, I’ll figure something else out.

We’re getting close to the December 31 deadline. Any work on figuring something out so far?
