Dimmer Up/Down Buttons instead of Slider

I’m new to smartthings and the dimmer slider is driving me crazy. I tried to customize the device based on the default zwave dimmer profile and the example here: https://github.com/twack/smartthings-devices/raw/master/Better-Dimmer-Switch.device.groovy

Everything seems to work except for the Brighter / Dimmer buttons. Any chance someone has this working and could point me in the right direction?
