[DEPRECATED] Blink Camera Device Handler with Motion Sensor, Live Video Streaming, Integration with SmartThings/SHM, Temperature, Signals and Push Notifications

Went ahead and bought another. Here’s $25 off a purchase of $99 or more if anyone would like to use it. It is a referral code and I would get $25 off a future purchase.

Edit: Says for new customers only

If someone tries this and it’s no longer working, please say so. I don’t know the limits of redemption.

Hi @Gutheinz,

Thanks for this work a round.I have it setup and have it controlling my second Blink Sync module on my account. I have a CoRe piston Tun ON/OFF the System Device based on my Mode and that in turn disables the Blink Sync Module. Works like a charm. Thanks and great work.

Two quick questions about this workaround. First, does the alert fire when
it first detects motion (ie when the camera turns on) or once recording is
finished? Second, does the camera need to be armed in order to get alerts
or will you get motion alerts when the camera is disarmed?

Blink cameras send motion alerts when they finish recording. No integration can change that.

Blink cams only send motion alerts when they are armed.

All,

My suggestion would be to flood Amazon customer support. I just did that. They asked if I wanted to see about a refund. I told them “no” and that I wanted them to fix the product that they neutered.

I’m only one person, but if they get hundreds of hostile calls, they may reconsider - or at least publish a roadmap.

I don’t think it makes sense to contact Blink. They’re essentially dead and Amazon is the successor. Additionally, they removed the integration 3 days before the deal. Amazon is clearly responsible. Let’s let them know what we think about it!

Not to beat a dead horse here but take the refund and move on. I don’t think it makes sense to contact Amazon to complain. Considering the timing of the discontinuation, you can bet the action was taken with Amazon blessing, if not at their insistence, The fact they they’re offering refunds is a pretty clear indication of the finality of that decision.

Agreed, make the best of the IFTTT integration or get your refund and do something more useful with your time.

I received my additional sync modules and like this better than the setup I was previously using. Thanks for the motion integration and I like it says armed/disarmed for the system tile.

@RightHand can you tell me why you like it better? I might want to get an extra sync modular.

With the current features from Blink, cameras cannot be individually enabled/disabled via automation. You can arm/disarm the system (sync module). I have cameras outside I wanted armed all the time, but would have to manually enable/disable the cameras myself, only if I remember to. Now with the additional sync modules, I have one outdoor camera on its on sync module, and will always be armed except for short periods of time. I put the camera over my door on its on sync module, and also is always armed, except for when I open the door. Then my indoor cameras are on a separate sync module and is only armed when away. So, just gives you “zone” type control, without having to manually enable/disable cameras.
Edit:
To be clear I never had this integration, so of course the additional sync modules are much better than what I had before.

@RightHand Thanks I like the way you are doing it and I’m going to invest in a additional sync module. Thanks

Did you read through this thread and plan on trying to get it a discounted price?

@RightHand Yes I did and got a code for 40.00 off. Thanks

Just as an FYI, if you need a quick action performed in response to motion from a Blink camera, an Ifttt Webhook directly to WebCore will trigger a piston in under 5 seconds. Of course ymmv.

Living in Australia, I don’t have access to Blink via IFTTT (they haven’t released this functionality for Australia), so does anyone know of a way I can simply arm/disarm the system as a whole with ST or webCoRE?

Crazy as it sounds could you use a VPN and make IFTT think you are in US and have it work for you?

I actually do use a VPN 24/7 set at the router (pointing to the US), but it still doesn’t work.

Hi All,

What is the current situation? I ready many posts about direct ST integration issues. Is it possible to integrate blink with ST at the moment, or that custom handler was disabled and only way to make it work is IFTTT (I am in Ireland btw).

Currently, the only Blink-SmartThings integration is by using IFTTT. Using additional sync modules allow for “zone” control as IFTTT only controls module armed/disarmed on the Blink system.

I may have a simpler IFTTT arm & disarm suggestion for those of you with Nest thermostats. I’m using NST Manager to force my Nest Home/Away state to match my ST Mode (attempting to make the ST Mode the master setting for all smart devices with presence modes just to keep things synced). There is already a premade IFTTT applet to arm your Blink system when your Nest mode is set to away. So in my case, setting ST Mode to Away arms my Smart Home Monitor and forces my Nest to Away which arms my Blink cameras through IFTTT. This eliminates the need for the extra device handler and the manual applet to link it through IFTTT.
