D-Link DCS-5222L HD Wireless N Pan/Tilt Network Camera - Digital Input and Output

Hey guys,

I just found something interesting that I wanted to share. The D-Link DCS-5222L HD Wireless N Pan/Tilt Network Camera has a Digital Input and Output connectors, built in SD card writer, PIR motion detection and sound detection.

I’m thinking this should be able to be tied into ST without too much difficulty, in that you should be able to trigger recording through ST events/apps using the Digital Input and possibly use the on-board sensors to trigger events using the Digital Output.

I believe that the one limitation would be that you wouldn’t be able to view the video feed in ST directly, but you might be able to receive snapshots as per this thread:

I own a couple of D-Link IP cameras, mostly to keep an eye on the dog while we’re out, and I spent some time last weekend hacking around with some of the existing IP camera implementations. The credit here really goes to Danny and Brian, who worked on various other Device Types and got 99% of this working. It’s pretty lightweight; basically you can grab a still by tapping on the icon in the ‘Things’ list or opening the device and tapping ‘take photo’. It’s supported as an image capture device, so you can use SmartApps like “take photo burst” to fire off a round of photos when some action takes place.
