Create an Automation/Alert to tell me if a door is open when locking doors?

Hello,

I have my Kwikset door handles/deadbolts set up in my SmartThings hub and I am looking at getting the door/multi sensors to give alerts when the doors open. I am also wondering if there is a way to have an alert sent in the event that any of the doors are still in the “Open” state when I send the command to lock the doors?

E.G. The back door is unlocked and left open on accident when leaving the house, and I send the command to lock all it will lock the back door but then alert me that it is still in the open state.

If you’re using Lock User Management, then this feature is built into the app under Door/Open Actions.

Alternatively you can use this app also to create a custom notifications with a custom repeat interval: [RELEASE] Door Chimes and Notifications for Doorbells and Sensors

I am not using Lock User Management, but I will give that a try when my sensors arrive or try that other app.

Should be a be able to do this with an automation using the standard automation creator.

if door is locked and door is open, then send notification.
