There is already another thread om the new Chromeast Audio, and ST has " a bunch" of them to see what ( if anything) they can do with them.
In all honesty I am not that impressed with the one I got, thankful I decided to just get one to start. Didn’t go all in and buy a dozen to put all around the house.

Agreed. I’m personally buying boost cheapest phone $14 and dlna renderer instead of audiocast. Its half cheaper and it has touchscreen and battery backup build in.
I’ve actually been using an old Moto Droid Bionic sitting in a dock for years , hooked to simple outside BT speaker for my Holiday displays, and paired to my Sony 7-1 home theater to stream music through house. I have had nothing but problems with Chromecast freezing up or losing connection and having to be either power cycled or doing a full factory reset. Google claims I am the only one in the world with these problems and it must be the speakers I am plugging it into.
