regarding the ring camera, when you install it, it updates the firmware right away and there is no way to stop it. there is a good chance that the firmware update will brick the camera. this has happened to a lot of people and it happened to one of my cameras. then you have no choice but to return/exchange it.

IDevices has started their Black Friday sale with a number of devices at 30% off. These are Wi-Fi, no bridge required. they also have some Bluetooth Remotes. Integration with smartthings is through IFTTT, Amazon routines, or homebridge.

They have an in wall outlet that has two independently controlled sockets, a nice device. It’s usually priced at $99, which is obviously expensive. It’s on sale at $63, which is a lot, but again, two independently controlled sockets.

It meets standard US code specifications, supporting 15 A or a 1/2 hp motor. So that’s significantly better than most plug-in pocketsockets.

If you’re looking for something to integrate with smartthings, I wouldn’t select their switches since there’s no way to get a status update if the switch is changed at the wall. But that’s not an issue for outlets, so this might be a candidate, especially if you’re looking for something where each individual socket is controllable and you’re OK with a cloud connection.

I have some of their devices working with Homekit that I bought a couple of years ago. I’ve since switched over to Meross for Pocketsockets: they are less expensive and have an official Integration with smartthings. But Meross doesn’t have an in wall outlet yet, so if you’re looking for one, this could be a candidate.

There’s a filter for smart home items in Black Friday deals week at Amazon, but for some reason it’s not on the main navigation page:

Most Aqara devices have a coupon box on the Amazon product page today for 15 to 20% off. :sunglasses:

Most of the basic sensors, including the door sensor, the motion sensor, and the humidity sensor, can be used with a smartthings hub instead of the aqara gateway, although they may require custom code.

Historically, these devices have had issues getting messages through some Zigbee repeaters, which means they work fine if they connect directly to your hub or through an IKEA Tradfri bulb or pocketsocket, but they may keep dropping off line if they are connecting through other zigbee devices. So just something to be aware of.

Not all of their devices work with smartthings, for example the new camera does not, so check the forum to make sure the model you are interested in does work.

The humidity sensor, in particular, is a device which doesn’t have much competition right now in the under $20 price range. It says it requires the aqara hub, but you can use the smartthings hub instead. Today’s 15% off coupon brings the price down to $17.

(Also note that although all of the individual devices will say they also work with Apple HomeKit, that is only true if they are connected to an aqara gateway, so if you are using them with smartthings they won’t work with Homekit.)
