I used to have a mode in my Smartthings called “Party” which i could activate at any time before my “Night” mode kicked in and shut down all non-essential lights in my home (11PM). It would basically prevent “Night” mode from happening until i manually activated it. Can anyone help me with what i need to do? Better yet, send me the code? Thanks in advance. Peter
Are you using a Routine to shift to Night mode? If so, what are the triggers and actions of that Routine? What would the mode be before you invoke Night mode? Do you have an actual location mode called “Night”?
I have an automatic routine called “Evening” which turns on over 50 lights in and outside my home at Dusk, and another automatic routine called “Night” that is triggered at 11PM (we’re old …).
… and sorry for the delay in my response. We were away. I look forward to your solution!
Do you still have a Location Mode named ‘Party’ or are you wondering how you are supposed to recreate it these days? The mobile app designers have always given the impression they either don’t like the Location Mode or just don’t understand the value of it and have rather buried it.
In order to create a new Location Mode the easiest approach is to login to the Advanced Web App and follow the links to your Location where you find the ability to add a Mode.
Once you have added the new mode you can change it manually in the app (e.g. under Location Settings in the three dot menu on the home page) or automatically using a routine, and then act on that change in a Routine. Also you can make your Night routine have a precondition based on the Location Mode being something that doesn’t include Party.
Really like the idea of a “Party” Location Mode. Like you, @Peter_Ford1, we have “Evening” and “Night.” For us, “Party” could delay turnoff of garden lights, turn on our “party lights” string over the patio, and so on.
Great food for thought, guys…
