Sorry - just saw this has already been discussed and @Ben has confirmed that this will be the go-to way for August Locks and ST to communicate.

August Locks

They developed this specifically to interact with systems like SmartThings. Until Hub V2 is released with BLE we are looking at this as the best way to integrate with the August locks.
