Aqara Smart Light Switch H2(US) WS-K03E decouple mode

Hello All,

I’m considering getting the Aqara Smart Light Switch H2 (US) WS-K03E along with the Aqara Dual Relay Module T2 to automate a dumb ceiling fan. According to Aqara, the switch supports Decoupled Mode, allowing the buttons to be programmed for scenes or routines instead of directly controlling the load.

Does anyone know if there’s an Edge driver available that enables Decoupled Mode on SmartThings? Or would I need to configure it through my Aqara Hub M2 first before pairing with SmartThings?

Thanks!

Not at the moment.

The Matter firmware doesn’t support any configuration, only the Zigbee firmware does.

Pretty sure that there will be a Zigbee driver in the near future…

Started to develop one, but they are currently adding generic multi-button support and I don’t want to do that twice.

Or would I need to configure it through my Aqara Hub M2 first before pairing with SmartThings?

You can try that. Don’t do a factory reset in-between.

Thanks for the reply!

I have the 2-gang, 4-button EU switches and I’m using the lower buttons as a controller for a bulb and a fan.

The upper buttons are coupled by default and the lower buttons could be considered as “decoupled”.

Working great as a workaround.

Does that mean that Aqara will make H2 driver for Smartthings? (similar to H1 driver)

I’m really interested in H2 switches (mostly because of decoupled mode) but I really try to keep number of hubs to minimum.

However… If I had to use Aqara hub, can I expose H2 buttons through matter? (including double-tap and hold actions)

We’ll see. If I have some time to spare, I’ll write one.

Maybe. They’ve recently extended the Matter bridge functionality of their hub.

I asked Aqara support about their plans for Smartthings driver and this was response I got:

"Thank you for contacting us.

We appreciate your interest and suggestions regarding the H2 switch and its integration with the SmartThings hub. We will forward your feedback to our team and review your comments with our product team to consider your input for future enhancements. Our goal is to balance user requests with the practicality of features to ensure the necessity and feasibility of product improvements."

So I don’t think they have plans currently to create ZigBee driver. But I would be also fine if over time they just improved H2 Matter mode to be on par functionally with the ZigBee mode.
