Hi,
I’ve reached the point in building a ST smart home that I’m looking at building routines for the holiday apartment i.e.
- leave apartment for a day - switch off lights (simplify by creating an ALL LIGHTS group)
- leave apartment for long term - switch off lights and devices. (e.g. wine fridge, televisions etc)
So I could obviously create a lighting group for the key devices, but wondered if there were a more elegant solution i.e a device group rather than a lighting group.
If I need to read a document please point me in that direction!
Also are scenes and modes still a thing in ST? Things looks to have changed which is only confusion my learning curve as I watch YT videos on features that no longer appear to exist - unless I am missing something!
Thank you.
You can find some suggestions in the app here:
Screenshots in German but you’ll figure it out.
The home and away, good morning and good night routines are a good start.
If you have water leak sensors, smoke detectors, cameras, motion or contact sensors, the SmartThings Home Monitor is something you should check out.
Scenes have been renamed to “manually run routines.” Apparently They did a focus group, and that was the most popular of several bad options.
Why they felt the need to rename a term which was a perfectly workable industry standard term has never been explained.
So now Alexa has scenes, Google Home has scenes, Apple Home has scenes, Philips Hue has scenes, IKEA has scenes, Aqara has scenes, Tuya Smart life has scenes, Hubitat has scenes, Vera has scenes, Fibaro has scenes, Home Assistant has scenes, Leviton has scenes, Lutron has scenes, and SmartThings has “manually run automations.”
In the SmartThings app, when you choose “create a routine“ then under the “if” there will be an option to make it a manually run routine.
