And that's it. Abandon Ship: Samsung announces new IoT platform

Ouch!! Check this thread out…

This happened to me twice. The first time I had to completely reset the hub, censure everything and start from scratch. So I did that.

Two weeks later it did it again. I was pissed.

I wrote to support and explained my frustration. I guess I got lucky and got the right person. They told me that they had taken a look at my system and day I had several orphaned devices. I have him permission to delete them.

Once he did that, I ran a Zwave repair and everything was good. I haven’t had that problem since.

It is definitely worth a try.

Just ask support to plea check your system for any orphaned devices and if found to please delete them.

It may save you a serious headache.

Yeah, they said that they have had other reports and that someone was working on it. Then they offered to exchange the hub instead of waiting for them to fix it… It took me two weeks to go through and move everything the last time so I didn’t want to just jump into the “redo” option.

That was 3 weeks ago. I must not be bugging them or being annoying enough.

At this point, if I have to redo it all - it seems like it may make sense to do it with the new one - assuming that they are just announcing that it will ship in 6 months, etc…

Yeah, but it’s another fun Raspberry Pi project. And it’s nice to see a project where you don’t have to guess have the steps you need to take.

I would definitely ask them to search for the orphans and kill them first. It’s definitely worth a shot. It did work for me.

I dont know if you noticed, but the picture on that article is actually a smartthings hub…Im not sure why you are jumping to conclusions about the product line being discontinued

ST has a nasty habit of leaving orphaned Zwave devices around. I’m presuming because the request to delete ran past the 20sec limit and was killed off. I discover and delete the myself using a USB Zwave stick joined to my Zwave network

I just look for the orphaned devices not in ST but are still in the Zwave network and then I add back a new device from the IDE with a Device Handler of Zwave device, then set the network ID To the same one as the orphaned device and then try deleting again.

I have had to do this over 20 times now as it happens lots. This is something that needs resolved or we need more visibility to the Zwave network itself in ST

This is what happens when large corporations take over…

Almost same as what happened to nest revolv…

Hope this new systems works. Maybe starting over is the best idea here.

I have the GE lights and they are an exercise in frustration. They are always out of sync. I have stopped using them now.
