Amazon Echo + Sonos + SmartThings + Apple Music

Apologies if this has already been answered somewhere in the Amazon Echo & ST thread.

I ordered an Echo Dot and currently have multiple Sonos speakers hooked up to SmartThings. I am curious, with regard to the integration of Sonos & ST & Echo if I can play Apple Music. I can’t seem to find it listed under Echo-compatible music services, but I use Apple Music with Sonos.

If I can use it, how does Echo work? Can I request it play certain artists/songs? Can I skip tracks?

Again, sorry if this has already been asked/answered somewhere else. Any feedback is appreciated!

You might want to look at @obycode’s Obything Music app.

Not sure how it works with Sonos, as I use Airplay. But it allows ST to control iTunes, which, I would think, would allow Echo to do it through ST. Don’t have an Echo so I can’t say anything about that.

Thanks for the shoutout @mdawson, but ObyThing Music only works with a Mac as the source and AirPlay speakers, it won’t work with Sonos unfortunately. Even then, we haven’t been able to make it work with selecting Apple Music stations because Apple hasn’t exposed that functionality to scripting yet. You can control it (play, pause, skip, etc.) but you can’t select and start a station.
