All devices offline

I have not looked at my app for a while - i use it to control some thermostats and so i ignore it during the summer. Today I discovered that all my devices are “offline”, including virtual switches.

Is there a way to reset and re-add the hub without losing my automations?

Which hub do you have? What is the color of the led on the front of the hub? Firmware version of hub? Have you rebooted the hub and router? That is a good start…

Of course i have power cycled it.

It is Hub v3. It appears that the hub is in a reboot loop. It starts up, asks for an ip address from dhcp server and reboots soon. Cannot communicate with it, so don’t know the firmware.

That is why i am asking - if i try the factory reset and reconfigure, will my automations (which i have spent a lot of time tuning as samsungs’ capabilities are a mess) go down the drain or are they somehow redownloaded from the app or cloud? There does not seem to be a backup/export option.

back to the original question - have you restarted your router. While the questions may seem trivial… I do not know what actions you have taken.

if the router reboot does not resolve the issue. I recommend a soft reset of the ST hub. The soft reset simply resets the network configuration of the hub… everything else remains intect… all devices, routines, etc are not touched. Depending if you are using Ethernet or wifi to connect… the wifi would need to be set up again if that is what is in use.

soft factory reset by following these directions:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the Hub
  • Using a pin or a small tool, hold down the reset button on the back of the Hub
  • While continuing to hold down the reset button, replace the power cable
  • When the LED on the front starts flashing yellow, release the button

do not continue holding the reset button once you see the flashing yellow… if you continue holding, the hub will be hard reset and wipe out everything and you would need to start from scratch.

You can choose to contact ST support before or if you continue to be unable to connect to the network.

Just in case someone else stumbles upon this - it turned out to be the power supply. I replaced it and the thing is stable again.

But the fact that you cannot export or backup your work is still unforgivable.

You will find no argument from anyone here regarding that!
