Wouldn’t it be nice to hear Alexa’s voice on your house speakers? Maybe even have her play some prime music or tell you the laundry is done, unprompted?
I was trying to figure out how to get Alexa to Announce things, and maybe play some Amazon Prime under SmartThings control. The idea came to me while watching X-MEN 2. That scene where Stryker is whispering in Jason’s ear…
Ok…I normally connect Big Talker/VLC thing to my speakers.
So what I did instead is put a headset on my Echo. Big Talker/VLC thing whispers into Alexa’s ear.
“Alexa, Play Bach” or
“Alexa, Simon Says, I finished doing the wash, would you like me to move the cloths to the dryer?”. or
“Alexa, Play barking puppies” when the doorbell rings. or
“Alexa, Simon Says, You are safe and secure.” When the doors lock.
(Alexa, Simon Says - makes Alexa repeat what is said after that.)
Alexa complies or repeats the Simon Says sentence, and responds through her speakers, which are picked up by the headset microphone and routed to my house speakers. (I use the Virtual Audio Cable to route that on the same computer.) You just need a quiet place like Cerebro so the microphone doesn’t pickup other stray noise.
