Aeotec smart home hub 2, hub replace functionality

I’ve ordered the new hub, expecting it next week.
Any advice or suggestions to streamline hub migration from Aeotec v3. I have no z-wave devices but plenty of zigbee and about 15-20 thread.

I also have quite a few virtual switches and 2 virtual thermostats for controlling heating.

Can I use the outgoing hub as a zigbee and or thread repeater and still keep execution local? I’m planning to ramp down on the number of zigbee devices while ramping up on thread ones, hopefully some of the new IKEA ones, so an extra zigbee repeater to keep mesh strong would be useful.

You can only use it as a Zigbee repeater by using it as part of a hub group. I’d rather … and clap but your mileage may vary dramatically. I personally use my ‘spare’ V3 hubs as additional TBRs and hub replace candidates and wish I could disable Zigbee and Z-Wave in them completely while not needed.

I might be imagining it but I think i read somewhere (possibly from @JDRoberts ) that additional tbrs cause network performance degradation? Or is that not the case if they are merged?

Just to clear, these are additional TBRs on the same network as my main hub.

I don’t know what the negatives may be, but there are positives that require multiple TBRs. The one that matters to me is if my ST hub goes offline I want the Thread network to be able to stay up for use with Google to help me mitigate the situation.

Now if I was doing a lot of multi-admin on my devices it might not be a good thing, but that’s a different subject.
