Adding an Aqara FP300 to Smartthings

I have reading all the posts on adding the Aqara FP300 to Smartthings. Thank you for all the information. I noticed in Smartthings - Add Devices - Aqara there is a selection for adding the FP300. Should I use this method? Or installing Andreas_Roedl ST Edge driver

Yes.

The Zigbee firmware / driver offers some settings, but they don’t really improve the overall performance of the device - the correct placement is much more important.

Thank you for reaching out so quickly. I am a little confused. If I understand correctly I should first set the FP300 to Zigbee using the Aqara app. And I should preload your driver in SmartThings. Then, in SmartThings select Add Driver - Partner Devices - Aqara and then select the FP300. When ready, put the FP300 into Pairing Mode.

Out of the box, it’s a Matter over Thread device, but the firmware will be most certainly not up-to-date. To update the firmware, add the device in the Aqara Home app, switch to the Zigbee firmware, and switch back to the Matter firmware. Give it a minute and then an onboarding pop-up should show up in the SmartThings app.

And this can all be done without an aqara hub? Bout to unbox mine later today.

Hi. I was able to add the FP300 via Zigbee to my SmartThings. A couple things I noticed. At first my battery was reporting low battery. I put in two new batteries and now it reports no battery. I see yours reports 100%. Maybe I need to wait for it to report? And secondly, with your driver there appears to be no way to disable the light and temperature sensors. Not an issue really. Thank you for your help.
