Hi all.
New to action tiles but think it will help my situation out lots. My Wife prefers to have something to press rather than speak to Alexa. What I want to do is have Action tiles on a tablet on the side counter but have this go into a screen saver showing a picture album, but when touched just show the tiles.
Is there a way to make this happen?
Wouldn’t mind a planner as well, but that’s not important.
I’ve just found the whole AT community so think I should find my answers there.
However if you have any good hints or tips you’d like to share, I’m all ears!!
Hi David,
I have ActionTiles running on Fully Kiosk Browser ( Fully Kiosk Browser & App Lockdown Help - Fully Kiosk Browser (fully-kiosk.com) with Motion Detection enabled (via the front camera). So, when someone approaches the tablet it turns on automatically, no need to touch it. You can’t allow the tablet to sleep, so it consumes a lot of energy.
In my setup, the screen goes off after 15s of no movement (to optimize battery consumption). I’d say that a tablet is not the best device to be always on showing a picture album (screen and battery lifetime) but if you really want to do it, enable that in the tablet settings. I believe the screensaver will only work if the tablet is charging.
Also, as I didn’t want to have the tablet charging all the time, I’ve connected the charger through a zigbee relay that is controlled by Tasker ( Tasker – Apps no Google Play), switching on the charger when battery goes down to 20% and disconnecting the charger when the battery goes up to 80%.
Not sure if this is what you’re looking for but hope it helps.
The tablet I’m currently typing this on is a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 that has a no battery mode. When activated, it doesn’t use the battery at all and the battery can be actually removed.
The larger version is the Active4 Pro.
And it has face unlock - might be useful for this project.
Yes this is brilliant advice thank you!
Cool. I’ll have a look for one. Thank you
