I have five water tanks, one currently has a float switch that was wired into my jet pump’s pressure switch, so that if that tank runs low the jet pump will cut off and not run dry. But I do not always have that tank in use, I rotate the use of my water tanks.
I recently upgraded my jet pump to a 1 hp unit and I did not re-wire the float switch. I also found a straightforward Heavy Duty switch from Zooz that can handle a 1 hp motor load.
What I would like to do is install float switches in each tank and detect if any tank runs low then shut off the pump. Also send a notification so that the affected tank can be closed off and the pump can be restarted.
What can I use to capture the states of 5 float switches? Ideally each tank should be individually identified so that the notification can say “Tank 2 low, cutting off pump”.
Also, the water tanks are outside, about 10 ft away from my house, so the device to capture the 5 float switches would need good wireless range, to be powered by a 110v outlet, and be able to be mounted outdoors on a wall, in the weather.
Any advice?
