If you need the switch on all the time, could you wire it “hot” and then place a dummy cover over it. Then put the switch on that?
In the US we can get covers with no holes.

in this case you must have a radio controlled switch (like this) before the light bulb, or a radio controlled bulb (like philips hue products) or a radio controlled light bulb adapter (like this)
Hi Marco,
Yes I currently have wemo light bulbs. However currently I can only control these via Alexa of the smartthings app.
A switch would make life easier. I just cannot get it connected to smartthings
Is there any update or solution to get the Aqara Wall Switch ZigBee Version working?
I added it via the a4refillpad device handler and see it in the app but pushing the button doesn´t do anything
Btw even if the button would work, would it still depend on the state of the button e.g. switched on or off or would it work similar to the fibaro relay switches that whatever the state, you could remotely change it?
You’re best bet is to get the Xiaomi gateway and setup Hass.io on a raspberry pi, then integrate both the gateway and smart things. This is what I’ve done, took a bit of work to get it all setup but works like a treat.
Thanks but why shouldn’t this be possible just with smartthings? Don’t have the xiaomi hub and didn’t plan to get it. Same goes for hass unless I want to do more complex stuff.
So is there any hardware issue or just current lack of device handler development?
It would be possible if someone wrote a handler for it, but I’m not a dev and couldn’t wait any longer.
I got this working for the switch by modifying a4refillpad’s DTH for Xiaomi Button. The code is a bit messy as I have not have time to clean up and also have not spend any time fixing up the fingerprint section. I currently manually added the device using the catchall method.
I am able to use the switch to turn toggle a light on and off now as a push button.
Just to be clear, I am referring to this light switch: https://m.gearbest.com/access-control/pp_626696.html
Thanks for that. I tried it but have two issues:
I tried before the normal xiamo button but deleted that and did everything from scratch including pairing.
Here are the event:
That is strange as it’s registering as a button push for me:
Can you confirm that the device is properly paired?
Do you see anything in the live logging?
It should show Parsing ‘on/off: 1’ in live logs.
Also, I’ve only been able to get the 1 button working. I have both the 1 button and 2 button version, both works but the 2 button will register the same push on both buttons.
it works perfectly … clearly seen as a button, but I can set action for the single click and one for the extended click … optometry !!! (my model is battery, without physical contacts) (two buttons are not recognized)
the DH will never be able to figure out which button is “phyiscally” pressed.
Becoz ST parses the on/off and obscures which endpoint (switch 1 or 2) that returned the on/off.
But if you guys figured out which endpoint ID is used by switch 1 and 2… you have no problem sending commands to on/off remotely from apps or smartapp or echo.
Just that it will never sync to physical presses.
Hm the status is saying it is inactive. If I click button in the mobile app, it shows in the device log but NOT in the hub events list.
I removed the device again and tried to pair from scratch. But I am not getting the catchall event. I press the button for 5 seconds until the lights turn red. After that they blink blue and turn into constant blue.
Maybe I had last time a catchall from another device which was not paired yet (some stuff still around here). Will try to pair this but need the catchall which I am not getting…
Btw I am getting this error code. somehow related?

I’ve used the dth from @bspranger and it worked like a charm
For the switch or button? I can only see dth for button? Does it work for the switch?
Sorry… My mistake.
It’s for the button…
How did you get it working with extended click?
I use the smartapp “Button Controller” and i set action for “Pusched” and
"Held"
Is this for the switch or button?
I use it as a button
