If you wish to use the official kasa integration, you would select add device > kasa which only selects the official integration using the new architecture. This option will not use any custom edge drivers you may have installed.

If you wish to use a custom Edge Driver from one of the Community Developers, then you must use add device > scan to pick it up.

It can make the Edge driver run its discovery handler and look to see if there are any Kasa devices on the local net.

I can attest that scan nearly works with the Kasa Edge Driver.

You will want to delete your linked service connection to Kasa or you will end up with duplicate devices.
