Looked around and I can’t find an answer for this, or it’s a can’t be done.
I have setup my smartthngs with my phone as a presence sensor and it works fine.
I want to add other people to it, but I want their phones to only work as a presence sensor as I don’t want them to start playing with the rules etc.
Is there a way of doing this ?

Short answer is no.
The long answer is that I’m sure there is a way. I don’t know anything about life 360 but I know some here use it for presence. You might search the forum for posts on that subject. Here is a link to the life 360 site.

Probably not with using smartthings phone presence. Possibly if you get creative, maybe by using IFTTT, or Tasker (if android phones), previously mentioned Lif360, together in some type of chain.
Problem is that IFTTT can take a while to process stuff as the servers are in the USA and little old me is on the other side of the pond in the UK
