After going through this “upgrade” it’s like going back in time a couple of years to when I first set up SmartThings. Nothing is where I expect it to be, and a lot of stuff just stopped working.
I can no longer find a list all the smartapps that are used by an individual device, so I can’t edit them to fix those that have broken. I’m sure they are somewhere in this muddled UI.
On the main screen, all of what used to be called rooms (now scenes?) are listed in reverse alphabetical order. WTF?
The steps to go through to update the SmartThings Alexa skill send you to Play Store to install the Alex app that was already installed and up to date on my phone.
Even after installing the newer Alexa skill and linking, the various sounds that used to be played on my Echo devices (through Alexa routines) no longer play. I have tried removing the skill and re-adding one just like it, but still no sound.
If I go to automations, I see something that was obviously derived from my old setup (because it references a mode that I created called “Away short”). Yet when I go into the details of that automation and attempt to edit the one called “Unknown isn’t at condo”, the Who field doesn’t have any of us listed as choices. Yet under Devices > People I see all three of us listed with the correct Present/Not present status - I am hoping that’s coming from Life360 and not SmartThings location, but st this point I am not sure.
I might just have well trashed the whole setup and re-done it from scratch. In fact I am moving house in about 6 weeks, I guess I will do just that then, and live with having remember to lock the doors through Action Tiles after I leave.
I am occasionally being taken to the us.samsung.com (may not be totally accurate) page to authenticate. This happened some time this morning after the phone had been rebooted, and before I even ran the SmartThings app.
This was not a migration tool, this was “dump everything into the new app and let the customer figure it out”.
