I have an over/under washer & dryer, the dryer has no alarm when the clothes are done. Purchased the Third Reality vibration sensor, they said it connected to Echo/Alexa, it does not unless paired with their hub. Normally any device connected to ST is also in Echo with the ST skill.
Problem #1: 3R said it was a ST problem that the device doesn’t show in Alexa. I’m not seeing an updated driver for this device. Any way ST can fix this on my Aeotec v3 hub?
Problem #2: My washer dryer vibrates during the wash, stops, then starts again, then stops, and starts again. Is there any way I can get the routine to use the sensor status more than once? Can I create a routine where the sensor detects vibration for 10 min, then no vibration for 10 min? As the device works now I can choose device status once, then when I choose the device again I only get battery.
I can’t offer any solutions regarding the first problem since I don’t own an Alexa device.
Regarding the second problem…determine the longest amount of time your washer/dryer stays idle during its cycle. Then enter a slightly longer amount of time in your routine’s “If” section under “Stays this status for how long?”
The routine won’t trigger unless the dryer stays idle for the above amount of time.
Create a virtual switch, call it something like “Dryer Running” or something else that makes sense to you.
Using the Vibration Sensor, determine the max time it is still in mid cycle.
Using the Vibration Sensor, create a routine that turns on the virtual device when vibration is detected.
Using the Vibration Sensor, create a routine that turns off the virtual device if vibration isn’t detected for some value greater than what you found in #2
In Alexa, have it search for devices. The virtual Switch should appear
Create an Alexa routing that broadcasts or plays a sound when the virtual switch turns off.
