yes, smartthings can unlock and lock the August Pro.
btw, if anybody wants a $30 off coupon for the Pro, shoot me a message. I have one and both exterior doors have smart locks. Expires the 26th. Edit: gone

The pro is now available on the August website & listed as in stock. Not available on Amazon yet. BtwâŚI do not see it listed in the smartthings marketplace.
@jawn101, as stated by @Automated_House, yes. SmartThings is able to lock/unlock the door directly. The lock is Z-Wave certified now, and August has stated that they are working with SmartThings to get it officially supported.
Thanks! Do you have anything public facing that corroborates their intention to get SmartThings certified? Not that I donât believe you, but like everyone else here I have one of these $30 off coupons and would like to get the new lock, but donât want to find out later that the certification isnât going through or that I canât use ST for unlock, etc.
Not something I can publicly disclose, as it is encompassed within the beta test community pages⌠I donât believe I can share that specifically detailed information beyond âhearsayâ without possibly violating the NDA at this time, but I do know it was actively discussed.
Ill take that coupon, Iâll take Synthesis coupon as well so I can save me $60
As long as it is Z wave certified, it will be able to work with any Z wave certified controller, including SmartThings, for basic lock/unlock capability. However, advanced features of the lock might not be supported, and some advanced features such as user code notification which use optional zwave features, might require custom code to work with SmartThings.
@rboy has a paid lock manager that provides smartthings integration for many different brands of locks, I donât know if heâs looked at the new August pro yet or not.
Hereâs the official Z wave certification for the new August lock, so that part should be fine:
Thanks! Very helpful.
@RBoy, r u adding the August smart lock to your list.
Thanks JD. Youâre correct the basic functionality will work just fine with the SmartThings lock. There are some advanced features such as the integrated door position sensor for which the Universal Z-Wave Lock Device Handler is required to use those features in the next update.
I could use a coupon if anyone got one spare, thanks!
Sent. Enjoy!
Any other coupons left? Thanks in advance
Can you send me one too please?
I only had one to share. Sorry.
I understand the convenience, but this seems like a big security risk basically if anyone had your phone and youâre using a present sensor such as Life 360 the door would just unlock.
Iâm not assuming someone else would have your phone but wouldnât you be concerned with that?
That is the default functionality of the August native configuration anyway.
I got the Gen 3 Pro lock yesterday and installed it in seconds - it just snapped onto the base plate from my Gen 2 - and I have to say it is MUCH better than the Gen 2. Way more reliable unlocking, better and faster communication, hugely improved all around. This is what the Gen 1 product should have been, it makes everything theyâve shipped to date feel like a beta test.
It really is a great lock. During testing I got to see all of the various improvements as they came out with new firmware. It was nice to see how responsive the August team was to any issues or complaints. Once Z-Wave was enabled, many of us jumped to get it onto ST and start putting it through its paces.
Mineâs on itâs way from Amazon, delivering tomorrow! Excited to see it in action!
All locks can be broken. A strong kick and the door is going to open generally from a broken door frame. Your door lock also does not make the glass in your windows any stronger. If someone wants in your house, they are going to get in your house.
