SmartTiles Dashboard v5.7: Release March 2, 2016

Just to let you know I still get the error “a problem has occurred” error when entering the preference page and the others. Still able to add “things” but can no longer configure it.

Thanks… this is important information.

Did you create any new child dashboards yesterday, by any chance? There may be some “orphan” child-Dashboards as a result.

If you pull up “Locations / Installed SmartApps” (in the API/IDE web for your region) and look at the details for the problem child(s), if any says “Owner: System”, then you have an orphan which you will no longer be able to edit. I doubt we will have a workaround for this.

Instead, create a replacement Dashboard using another child slot.

If you don’t “Owner: System”, then perhaps you just need to be sure to fully exit the mobile App and try again to edit preferences, etc… And if that doesn’t work, then email: Support@SmartTiles.click; possibly including screen shots from the API/IDE list of SmartApps…? Thanks.

I have searched this pretty throughly and maybe missed it but I cannot find the url to my smartTiles web access after installing Smarttiles (Connect). I have seen where the SmartTiles URL would show up in my IDE but that was removed because of security issues? Now I see mention of finding the dashboard url in the smartthings app but it is nowhere to be found in my Android Smartthings App. Im sorry… I really tried to figure this out. Could someone please be provide an explaination of exactly how the find the Smarttiles dashboard url? I have 2 dashboards set up in the smartthings smarttiles app. Thank You in advance.

Yup… the process is way too complicated, but we’re stuck using SmartThings’s menus … until “SmartTiles V6” which has a new UI (shhhh…).

Let me know if these pictured steps help, and if you have any further questions or suggestions…

In the SmartApp configuration, go to “View Dashboard”, then “URL” (to view the URL),

I tried yesterday but although smart tiles shows up in my IDE it doesn’t under smartapps in the mobile app , I assume this has something to do with the update.

Yah… gosh darn-it… I got this result too in some testing, but then it showed up a couple hours later (really!). Take a look again… I wonder if you got the same behavior.

But note… We’re working with SmartThings on getting to an official resolution, so I’ve taken the installer down for now to avoid confusion.

Typical that i came to install this the day it all went wrong I’m only pressing F5 on the install page once every 60 second now

More Feature Requests
-popup keypad to disarm smart home monitor with simple PIN defined in SmartTiles configuration
-option to filter somehow the event history. I normally don’t really care about temperature or weather in this log. Also for my motion detector at least, active is always followed by inactive 3 minutes later, like to hide inactive.
-option to provide a user URL for weather website when clicking weather tile
-when clicking a video image tile, popup a larger version of the image/video (long-press open image seems to work for now)

Thanks!

I am having an issue with embedding video tiles for 2 of my Hikvision camera (2CD2032-IW). I am using http substream but it looks like I can only tun one instance of that live feed, One I open one smarttiles page with these streams, I can’t get that working on any other devices or even in the same device I can’t open the live feed even in browser. Anyone else having such issue ?? Any solution ?

Asked the question here as well -

We have temporarily restored the functionality of the SmartTiles Installer

We’re far from resolving all the possible quirks, but it is worth giving it a try now.

###Note:
If you get “Red Bar” errors (or spinning wheels…) when configuring SmartTiles, try changing fewer options at a time and be sure to press Done between pages. After initially adding a new Dashboard (and perhaps, after renaming it), press Done, then go back in and edit the dashboard … i.e., add your Tiles, other Preferences, etc., then press Done, then go back and View Dashboard & URL, etc…

It may even be as “simple” as being sure to exit all the way out of the “SmartTiles (Connect)” configuration preferences page before going back in and editing a child dashboard again.

All those extra Done operations may not be required, but if you are getting errors, we think this is a partial workaround until further notice.

I second the request for a key pad to disarm SHM, please. Of course adds the need to create multiple codes etc…but it’s probably possible to simply trigger a virtual switch and let other apps control the users/code management

Not sure what has happened, but my URL results in an “Invalid token” message now? I thought it was related to my having created a new location in addition to my original one, so I reinstalled the app several times, and it appears in the list of SmartApps on the website, but does not appear in the list of SmartApps for my mobile device, which has been restarted to no avail. Any suggestions?

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

But the “missing install” (and other installation issues) is a new problem over the past few days that we have not been able to consistently reproduce, though I have seen it myself. We will escalate to SmartThings Developer Advocates next week.

I’m interested that you have two “Locations” because SmartTiles needs to be installed once explicitly for each Location, selected after you enter your login information in the web installer work flow.

Send me an email (Support@SmartTiles.click) if you may want to assist with further diagnostics on your account (often we can coordinate with Tim or Jody at the same time…), perhaps even Skype.

Something got messed up this week… But what else is new, right?

Also… Maybe it’s related to this… Variations of the problem are being reported in other Topics…

Also… If a Dashboard is not listed in the Installed SmartApps list, try drilling into a Device that you know is in that Dashboard and see if associated SmartApp shows up in the Device settings details.

Hey Guys,

I’ve gone through the installation step from the smarttiles.click site and was at the page that told me to go to the app on my phone and create the dashboard. The problem is, regardless of what I do, smarttiles won’t show up in my ST app. Doesn’t show up under my apps in the browser either. Any help would be appreciated.

Fantastic! Thank you, the “uncheck the child box” trick did it for me. The SmartTiles dashboard showed up under each of my locations once I unchecked the appropriate box for each. I had to set them all up again and get the URL’s, but everything seems to be working again. Thanks again!

This seems to be a “confirmed” problem now, but doesn’t happen all the time and also varies in symptoms and possible solutions. See the posts immediately prior to this one for example.

I know @slagle and @jody.albritton have their hands full, so we’re not researching this too deeply over the weekend, but tagging them because the symptoms definitely are similar to what’s been reported with a few other SmartApps, so hopefully this information helps correlate details towards a solution.

So many variables are in play that we don’t have even a solid diagnostic plan yet… :worried:

###Everyone

If you optionally want to offer your case as an example,:

Please email Support@SmartThings.com giving permission to dig into your Account, and ask to tag Tim Slagle, and copy Support@SmartTiles.click with the Ticket #.

We don’t need a ton of volunteers, but a few may be the key to solving this.

I’ve sent an email in as well as a copy of the ticket number to you. BTW I don’t really have much setup as of yet in my account since I’ve only had the hub for a day so far… so not really sure how useful my account will be.
