Definitely running 1.4.2 DTH and 1.5 SmartApp but I am on an Android device though, if it’s an issue with ST then cool, just didn’t know if it was something that was of interest to you!
Am continuing to test, I do get random communication issues but I think it’s the Thinking Cleaner chip to be honest, seems a little… weak.
So how are you lot finding the stability of Thinking Cleaner? To me they seems to either drop off WiFi occasionally, the module seems to lock up a little (accessing the web page of it can hang pretty hard) or just seemingly the commands sent are ignored?
Also, for those of you with a Scooba 450, I did some poking around and it seems to respond to a LOT of the commands from the Roomba SCI/OI, I can even get it to start a clean without touching the buttons on the Scooba itself.
That being said the older Scooba’s responded to the older (IR based) Roomba remotes, so the 450 probably will do as well:
Anyone with a Scooba 450 and Harmony remote want to try?
I was able to get Thinking Cleaner and SmartThings integration working, but one problem I’ve noticed is that selecting clean will start a clean cycle if my Roomba is already on, but if it had turned itself off (like would usually be the case) I’ll have to select clean again to actually start it going. Is there a way to check the state and automatically issue the command a second time when necessary? This will be problematic when I’m not able to manually check and see if it started.
So I got two thinking cleaner roombas up and running. I got your app installed just fine. However in the app under Monitored Roomba when I click the green plus it says No Available Options. Do I have to find another way to connect my Roombas to my hub, am I missing some setup ?
I’ve ordered another Thinking Cleaner for another Roomba but only because it’s pretty much the only option. Can’t say I’m impressed with the official Thinking Clearner app/site though, quite unreliable.
On the ST side, it doesn’t seem to update properly until I click refresh but that’s probably more to do with the bugs on the ST platform rather than the SmartApp.
I’ve been feeling your pain too, the scheduler in SmartThings sucks… and not in a good way. I had been testing V1.5.1 for about a month with even more robust polling and totally forgot it had been working great… So THX for the reminder and update the ThinkingCleanerer smartapp to 1.5.1. It polls much more consistently now… I mean it restarts the scheduler when it dies much more consistently now. Enjoy!
So I have installed the latest versions of both the device handler and the smartapp. I can control the roomba using the clean/dock button, but everything else aside from spot is just showing unknown. Any ideas? I’ve tried removing both the app and the roomba and re-installing, but still seeing the same issue.
I am getting a ‘failed to save page: pageInfo’ error when I try to setup the SmartApp with Notify when on and Notify when off. Any help is appreciated.
I have now got my roomba hooked up and was having similar problems. I could only get the smart app to save when I was working in android. Nothing I did would make it save in the ios version.
The problem I’m running into now, is that it seems the roomba goes into some type of sleep mode. When I try and start a cleaning cycle when the roomba is in this state, I get an error and says the battery is 0%. The only fix for this seems to be starting the roomba using the thinking cleaner app, then refreshing in smartthings.
Are there steps I am missing or is this just how the device functions?
I see the same issue, although selecting Clean twice works. I often execute the command using Amazon Echo, but have to say “Alexa, turn on Roomba” twice there too. I was trying to figure out a way for the Clean command to detect if cleaning actually began and issue a second command if it hasn’t, but I’ve been unsuccessful so far.
Also, if anyone figures out how to turn off the battery notification when it reports 0% I’d be interested.
I definitely don’t mind donating, that isn’t an issue at all and I completely understand. I guess my question would be if you aren’t experiencing the issues how would we go about getting them fixed? I like what I’ve seen so far — makes it very easy to control my roomba based on modes — I work from home a good amount, so having it only run when away is fantastic.
I think the issues are related — the roomba seems to be sleeping and when you first hit clean, says there is an error and I receive a notification that the battery of my roomba is 0%. This seems to “wake it up” and then turning on clean again seems to work just fine.
Like I said, no problem donating/helping out, just would like to talk through things beforehand.
If it’s on the charger, it shouldn’t be sleeping or off. The smartapp polls the roomba every hour and so it’s info should be roughly current. The code and logs are freely available to you. If you have reccoemendations on how to make the code better i’m all ears. All the free time i have for this project is in the code, i don’t have any free time for more that that.
Troubleshooting is how you fix issues for others that you aren’t experiencing yourself.
It’s been a coming feature for a long time now. Saw a Samsung Smart Home video sometime last year in which they did show an integrated robo vac, at least that is what they said. I am not waiting for it though, my Roomba with thinkingclean works just fine with the app by @sidjohn1
