Aparently Smartthings has a new job listing and it was up on Reddit a few minutes ago.
This is hopeful for the future of smartthings. Will be interesting as to how project CHIP is integrated (?new hubs or CHIP integrated future services).
Smartthings has been on the working group for project chip from the beginning. It seems likely that they just want to be able to onboard project chip enabled devices easily to the smartthings cloud/app. I don’t expect them to do anything from the hardware side beyond that.
Samantha Fein Osborne, the director of global marketing at SmartThings, also leads theProject CHIP marketing committee. So smartthings is involved, but again, I don’t expect to see smartthings-branded project chip devices.
