SmartThingsReset

This issue generally happens when the hub is brand new or has been disconnected for a long time.

To check if the hub can still be recovered, you must try to retrieve the hub logs directly through the USB port:

  1. Insert a FAT32-formatted USB drive to the USB slot on the back of the hub.
  2. Press and release the reset hole on the back of the hub.
  3. Hub LED will blink magenta while copying logs.
  4. After the Hub LED returns to normal from magenta blinking, extract the USB drive and connect it to a PC.
  5. File name will be “logdump_xxxx.tgz.enc”
  6. Then send the package to us at build@smartthings.com

Hi - I am new here - how do I get the Code for this old hub?

Hi @mgfair

I sent you the welcome code through a DM

Thank you very much

Hi @knn1989

What hub were you selecting when you trying to set it up in the ST app? If you were selecting the SmartThings hub (STH-ETH) that is the v2 hub which requires the welcome code. But you listed that you have the v3 hub (STH-ETH-300) and should be selecting the SmartThings hub (IM6001-V3P) when trying to add your hub in the app

Thank you very much. I wasnt aware of this. I was able to set it up selecting the IM6001-V3P option.

hello. I need welcome code for serial 3000245544.

thanks!!!

Hi @weibo
I reviewed your Hub, and it appears as ‘CLAIMED.’ This means it is already installed on the SmartThings platform, and you won’t be able to claim it with another account. Here are some instructions to reset the Hub:

  1. Connect the Hub via ethernet
  2. Then, follow the steps to factory reset it. Here’s a link that has the instructions for different models:
Factory reset or reboot your SmartThings Hub

Thank you for replying.

I tried to reset the hub, by first removing the battaries from the hub, then by pushing the reset button, while the hub is still powered on. Then—while still pushing the reset button—I unplugged the hub to power off the hub then plugged the power cable back into the hub, again, to power up the hub. I kept pressing the reset button, following the power cycle, for 30 seconds until the solid yellow light appeared. Then i released the reset button

After about 5 minutes, only a blinking blue light appeared—nothing else.

Thanks again, for the assistance

Please follow these steps:

If you are using batteries for the V2, you should remove them

Factory Reset (Using Ethernet Cable)

  1. Unplug the hub from power.
  2. Connect an Ethernet cable from the hub directly to your router.
  3. Press and hold the reset button on the hub.
  4. While still holding the reset button, plug the hub back into power.
  5. Continue holding the button for approximately 15–30 seconds.
  6. Release the button when the LED changes color (usually flashing yellow or red).
  7. Allow the hub to complete the reset and enter setup / pairing mode.
  8. Open the SmartThings app and set up the hub as a new device.

Thank you for the reply.

All steps were followed, however, I wanted to add, I did NOT–the first time to reset—attach ethernet cable to hub, while pressing reset button.

I DID attach ethernet cable to hub, this time, yet, even with solid blue LED, my smartthings app (android) still does not detect hub (with solid blue LED), during setup.

I do not know what is wrong.

Do I still need welcome code?

always apprecite any efforts to resolve this issue

Sincerely

Ryan

UPDATE 31 Jan 2026:

I will try this trick—blocking UDP Port 123.

Perhaps this will work. I will post an update ASAP.
