SmartThings Android App Version 1.8.45.24 (April 2026) & 1.8.47.24 (June 2026)

Apart from ‘Select a device to replace’ being rather an ugly phrase when it seems to be referring to the new device, you can also only replace a device if you haven’t already deleted it from SmartThings. So if, for example, you like to remove devices from SmartThings as the first step in replacing them, or if you accidentally deleted the wrong device, then this isn’t going to help you much.

SmartThings solutions are often partially functional like this.

Or if you’re removing the device so you can reset and re-add, where you don’t really have a choice…

Trying to view cameras is broken.

I revisited the ‘Safe’ app today. It still proudly announces it is going to install a button in a different Location to the one I am using (the one it says it is using has no other members) and once you’ve pressed the ‘Start’ button there isn’t any way to cancel it. So I just lose interest.

Sometimes the brand logo of the device manufacturer is showing up:

Had the chance to take screenshots this time before it disappears.

Have any new features been found in this version?

None that I have noticed, but there must be some hidden charges that I haven’t found.

We’ll find out in October about them

I’ve not noticed anything significant, and they certainly haven’t big fixed that sodding red dot on Notices.

I’ve only just noticed that the battery level is now only shown with a small icon. When that was first introduced they kept the full size battery widget as well. I guess that went months ago and I just never realised, or did realise and just forgot.

Now they need to move the connection path somewhere less intrusive as it is not a control. Likewise the button automations and the switch timers belong elsewhere.
