Can anyone recommend a Smartthings compatible thermometer for the fridge so I can be alerted if the fridge ever goes out?
I have a Tapo T310 (Matter bridged) in my fridge. It’s small, the battery lasts about two years, and it uses the 868 MHz frequency, which passes through the metal door like a hot knife through butter.
I use older Iris Gen2 Zigbee open/close sensors on all our fridges (and freezers) for the last several years. No issues with them at all, even with the extreme cold in the freezers.
While not a dedicated thermometer, the added functionality of knowing doors may be left open (causing the temperature changes) is a plus.
I use cheap Tuya ZigBee temperature and humidity sensors with AAA batteries. Batteries last a long time because the temperature and humidity are consistent, so they don’t need to be consistently reporting charges.
This device could be one solution
I have a Smartthings Multi Sensor in the fridge door shelf which notifies me of temperature as well as x-y-z movement (for door opening/closing), with the magnet attached so “closed”, powered by a soldered 2xAA battery holder in place of the CR2450 battery.
Any opinions or experiences with these from Thirdreality?
