Ring vs Skybell vs Kuna vs?

They sell companion lights on getkuna.com that don’t have the camera or intercom. A little pricey still at $130 because they sync to the primary Kuna via Wifi/bluetooth for turning the light on/off same time as the primary one.

Is there a side by side comparison of the skybell 2.0 and skybell HD differences? Out of over 1000 reviews of the 2.0, almost half(48%) of them were 3 stars or less on amazon, really looking to find out what Skybell has done to improve the newest generation.

Also while the size of this is smaller than Kuna, in my mind they are not apple to apple competitors. Kuna even though larger in size is more discrete due to it’s design.

Can you post pictures of the “full color night vision”?

I knew they had companion lights, but didn’t know that they synced like this, hadn’t even though of it, the price now seems a little more justified.

If you want something a bit smaller, you can check out SkyBell HD.

With SkyBell, you can start, view and record live video from the SkyBell HD at any time. You can do it from the app or any of the IFTTT/SmartThings devices can trigger SkyBell HD to turn on and start recording.

SkyBell HD also records when the motion sensor is triggered, even if you don’t answer it.

The biggest difference with Luna is obviously the size. We’re about the size of a normal Campbell’s soup can.

Some other nice things about SkyBell:
–Full color night vision
–Up to 1080p camera without the fishbowl or periscope effect
–Made in the USA
–You can turn off your indoor chime from ringing (good for quiet time, sleeping babies and napping dogs!)
–On-demand video

Errrrr $130 buttttt that might have sold me on syncing to the primary Kuna for turning the light on/off same time but I mean we can all go to Home Depot and get sunset/sunrise fixtures for probably $10 or so and a light fixture for like $40 or even smart bulbs hooked to SmartThings sunrise/sunset for around $10 so hmmmm. Damn that’s basically a price of $330 upfront for Kuna as let’s be real, my wife would freaking kill me if the lights weren’t the same, not even going there lol.

SkyBell HD is also now on IFTTT. SkyBell HD is the only doorbell on IFTTT that does Triggers AND Actions. So you can tell SkyBell to start recording video, change the LED color or turn off the indoor chime in the house. It can also work with Alexa and Nest Protect!

All international sales (except Canada) are final. We will not accept product returns and we will not refund purchase price. Ouch - When will the HD be sold at Amazon… Or anywhere that has a reasonable return policy?

They’ll be on amazon soon!

I’ve reached back out to my contact at Kuna to find out if we can get any additional details around the integration with Smartthings. Will update everyone here if we find out anything different or more.

Out even ifttt as sky bell has done, direct integration would be preferred, but ifttt would be minimum.

Thanks thanks!!! I may take a look at the typical hardware stores to see if any of them have anything remotely similar looking to the Kuna one as no way am I gonna spend $590 for a Kuna with camera and 3 other Kuna fixtures without so that they all look alike since I have lighting fixtures near my front door and garage (hence they all need to look the same) :frowning:

Yet another path that doesn’t seem feasible! If only they made lighting fixtures that were like $40 or something, no fancy extra stuff and I can just use a bulb that I can hook up with SmartThings.

I will admit though, I was immediately sold and about to get one until I took a step back and realized I would need 4 of the same fixtures then I saw the price lol!

Let us know the model# and place of purchase/post pictures if you find one!

There are tons of new features coming in the future, my friend! Kuna’s rock!

Haha yea agree 100% and $200 is a good price for something like that but if I can’t find an identical looking lighting fixture (that doesn’t cost $130) as I just need 1 Kuna then they won’t be getting my money. :frowning:

I was about ready to buy it also but damn, $130 for a side light and I gotta buy 3 (other side of front door and 2 at garage so they all match) so that’s $390 extra just to match the Kuna with the camera? lol

If I can find something remotely similar in like Home Depot then I’m guessing your probably talking about $150ish extra so that’s about $240 of unnecessary money with the Kuna spares. The features in the spare Kuna lights are nice though in that they sync up to the main camera one but throw a couple $10 smart bulbs in there and you can probably do the same with ST since you generally only use them for sunset/sunrise, and I really don’t need all lights turning on when motion is detected as they are already on after sunset so yea! haha

Awesome product though!

Was a Skybell 1 user (from Kickstarter days), upgraded to a Skybell 2. the camera on both units left a lot to be desired in terms of camera & audio quality and the motion senor was best left disabled.

Being a long term supporter, wanted to stick with Skybell, and hoping to order a Skybell 3for the improved camera, decided to give Ring a chance when i could not order one for over a month.

Moving to Ring was the best decision, as it had less false positives for motion based alerts and the motion range/depth can be selected. Getting used to the Fisheye effect. I do understand that they have an on demand option in the works, which i hope comes soon…

Direct integration with Smarthings would be nice. in the interim i’m using my old Wink Hub to turn outside lights on when motion is detected at night. Tried IFFTT, the delay was too long (sometimes over 15 min)…

Fortunately I have one fixture only in my front patio and back porch! So I don’t have to get matching companions!

I went to Home Depot so far and no go! :frowning: There are kind of close ones but ehhhh not really!

Not sure if this was brought up before, But I noticed Ring now has an IFTTT channel!

I use my Ring with the IFTTT channel and have found it to work very fast. I have my front door light set to turn on when there is motion detected from the ring. I have a smart rule set up to turn off the light if it’s on between sunrise and sunset. Works within seconds.

Ring is one of my favorite products I have bought this year.

Mike, thanks so much for your post. I just purchased ring and was hoping it would work just as you have said.
