Thanks mitchponds (and AlexM) for this awesome code. After I successfully published it, I was unable to follow the directions to actually connect the Tripper in this thread because menus have moved around. And I was confused because there is no device category “Other” or “Custom” where this appears like one would expect. Here is how I did it:
- Remove cover from Tripper, hold down tamper button, remove and replace battery, release tamper button. Led will be solid as it resets, and remain in pairing mode for a bit periodically flashing its led.
- In the new mobile app, go to +>Device>Scan Nearby, it should pop up as “Quirky Wink Tripper AlecM V3”
2b. Optionally I think you can use the classic mobile app, but the location has moved to My Home>Things>+ - If the pairing failed, you might have taken too long and the Tripper is no longer in pairing mode. Redo step 1 while SmartThings is still scanning.
- Update the rest of the normal sensor configurations as necessary. I had no further problems. It worked immediately. But if you do, you might try moving the hub and Tripper closer together, the Tripper has a pretty weak radio.
