Quick way to switch between Modes

Is there a quick way to switch between modes. For example, I have a home mode which sets all the door contacts to alert me if someone walks in without notice (sets off an alarm), but if I have a guest come over I want to quickly be able to switch from “Home” to “Alarm Off” disabling my siren so I can answer the door, or let the dog out.

How does everyone else handle these kind of situations?

If you are on iOS, there is.

First set up a mode that is your ‘Alarm Off’ mode, if you haven’t already. Then go to the “conversation” screen. At the bottom right, select the gear and “Add and action”. Have the action change to “Alarm Off” mode.

To invoke the mode change, open the app, got that same conversation screen, and again at the bottom (not the gear), select your action to switch mode.

You could setup a double tap operation on a light switch to change your mode.

Cory S – can you give some direction on how to pull that off?

That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to accomplish but have been unsuccessful so far.

If you’re savvy enough, you can modify the SmartApp Double Tap to perform this.

If can’t get this to work, I’ll give it a go in a few months after I finish my other projects.
