Problems install GE 3 Way Dimmer Switch

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I’ll probably go with the dimmer and rewire a bit to have it correct. I don’t think you can run a single neutral wire to the use the on/off switch (per code anyway), I’d probably have to find some 4 conductor wire.

Does the 3 way dimmer have the same issues as a single dimmer when it comes to flickering with LED’s or CFL’s? I don’t have any at this location, but with this being the year for the end of the incandescent, I was hoping I don’t have to redo this again later.

I’m not operating any LEDs yet with my 3-way dimmers. There is a thread somewhere here (pardon me if you’ve already seen it) that says there can be issues w/ them if the load is too low, e.g., 1 or 2 bulbs - but it sounds like multiple LEDs in the circuit may reduce/avoid the problem. I’m in the same boat as you - when I get around to replacing them with LEDs I’ll report back.

I found that my local Lowes had the dimmer kit marked down, didn’t realize there are different versions. The older one, which they have, requires a neutral on the master. The latest version doesn’t require it. Looks like I’ll have to look online for a newer version.
