Pair Ikea Fyrtur Remote with Fyrtur Blinds?

Question, if I use the Ikea extenders that were included with those blinds, can you pair more then one button the the extender or do I have to use 1 button with 1 extender

extenders are not paired to anything , they just repeat all the signals in the network.
You don’t even need a driver for them to work , I am using generic Zigbee device driver from Mariano as it shows the extended info about the device and network quality.

Well, don’t know what to say but you can see for yourself from the screenshot what ST did finding them.
When I deleted the “thermostat” device the blind button stopped working.

Thanks for that link, will check it out.

no you don’t suppose to remove them, my point is that it doesn’t matter what kind of driver

Oh, OK, got it :+1:

Sat down and gave it another crack today.

Deleted the up/down remote from ST, paired again, made sure same group. Nada. Deleted and repeated above. Nope.

Decided to try the same procedure as the old custom DTH method for the Shorcut Button: delete the non-functional device, paired again, force-closed the app, paired again without deleting, went to the device page and still nothing. Deleted and repeated this again, checked the group number, and this time, without assigning actions, I went to the device page to edit the group, and when I pressed a button to “wake it up,” the blind came to life!

:man_shrugging:t2: No idea. No actions saved for the toggles, no previous routines in the Automations page. Whatever, it works. No to see if it chews batteries. :crossed_fingers:t3:

Good for you!
Sadly in my case the battery drain makes it completely useless.
Tried to pair it with and without those Ikea range extenders that are included with those blinds.
The remote gets drained in 1 to 3 days every time.
Tried several brands, and it makes no difference.
When connected direct to the blind (no ST involved) it lasted over a year.

Yeah over the past year or so we’ve gotten so accustomed to just asking Alexa to take care of IKEA controls that I’ve only used the Fyrtur up-down remote a couple of times since I got it working last week. It’s still showing 87% like when I got it working. The Shortcut Buttons I also finally got working last week are already down into the 30% range with similarly few button presses, and I still haven’t been able to sort the dimmer button for the Trådfri LED driver. That one simply refuses to connect.

ETA: using the old Groovy DTH for the blind, I only charged the blind’s battery once every few months, but since I got it working with the edge driver last week it has dropped from 90% down to 13% today. I will give it a full charge today and see what happens. But that’s not impressive .

Frustrating, looks like I’ll go back to using them without the ST integration :frowning:

So, ended up getting Aqara zigbee buttons to replace the battery eating IKEA junky buttons.
One click to close, two clicks to open.
Working great.

Any update for the remote driver destroying batteries so quickly?

I’ve installed the Ikea Window 1.1 edge drive from @veonua which works great to control my Fyrtur blind - many thanks!

Like many it seem though, I just can’t get the button to work. As @SameGuy and @lifeisfun have variously reported at times, the button is added in SmartThings but despite being in the same group as the blind, all that happens is the battery level goes down and the only event in History is a “Button held” at the time of pairing. Has anyone got this working and if so, any tips? Many thanks.

I gave up on those Ikea buttons, they will drain battery crazy fast anyway and got Aqara buttons instead. Working great now :+1:

You need to activate a button when applying settings. Nonetheless, you should observe button press events occurring when any group is properly assigned.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll try an Aqara button tomorrow.

Thanks. I checked in the SmartThings Advanced Web App that the blind and the shade have the same group and I’ve tried two different group numbers and the setting change ok. The button device looks fine in the ST App, but still no button press detection. Lovely to see the blinds close at sunset with your great driver but in the interests of time I’ll try that Aqara button.

The process of binding the Zigbee group is very local and delicate. I doubt it can be done through a Web App.

There is only a short window of a few seconds when the battery-powered device actually accepts the group invitation. Most of the time, both the remote and the shade are in deep sleep.

Therefore, it is likely that the hub sent invitations but the devices missed them.

Aqara button works great now. Fiddly to pair with no clear instructions but random reset button presses got me there in the end. Will use those elsewhere now I think. Thanks again.

That’s great!

Thanks guys this is awesome. I was able to get my buttons working after some trial and error. If I didn’t read through this thread I would have been lost. The smartthings community is great.

What’s the current status of Ikea blinds & Ikea remote with SmartThings in 2024?

I just bought a PRAKTLYSING blind, and am looking forward to controlling it with SmartThings.

It seems you can pair the blinds with ST, and it works well using the built in ST driver that’s auto-detected during pairing, is that right?

As for the remotes, they don’t work well with ST, either ST can’t see the events, or the batteries in the remotes drain within days, is that still true?
