It’s still available to use! Hundreds of other people have used this custom Wink Relay integration and I’ve left it available - I’m just not personally using it.
I love the form factor of the Wink Relay and the concept is awesome. While I wouldn’t personally recommend someone go out and buy a Wink Relay to use with SmartThings, there’s a number of people who already have them and are transitioning over from Wink (especially right now with everything thing that’s going on in Wink land).
If you don’t already have a Wink Relay, I’d personally recommend a wall mounted tablet running SharpTools.io dashboard.
I have got the wink relay successfully running the app. and I have created the smartapp and device and child device handlers. If I add a device in the smartthings IDE, it says all functions are availible, but when I control form my phone, it says server error. So then I used your smartapp, and it would not detect my wink relay, even with manual IP. In the IDE, I ran the smartapp virtually, and the same thing happened. My wink relay is online and can connect to the internet. So how to get my wink relay connected to smartthings?
Did you install the custom STWinkRelay APK on the Wink Relay and is it running?
You can’t manually create the device in the IDE as the device handler expects certain data to be set during the installation process - either when discovered automatically or configured manually via the SmartApp.
Have you confirmed that the Wink Relay is connected to the same network as your SmartThings hub? Double checked it even?
Are the services all showing as running within the STWinkRelay app and can you access the built-in webserver at http://{wink.relay.ip}:8080/device.xml?
So I cannot use this as a viable solution for me because of the hub. This means I will have to use a different way to get the wink relay connected. Thanks for your help.
I am trying to connect it to amazon alexa. Smartthings works with alexa, so I thought I could use this method to connect it to alexa. Wink itself is unreliable and the subscription fee means that I cannot use wink’s own skill anymore
Ok, so I got my wink rooted. Everything is working great except the screen. I need to tap it to wake it up. Is there a way to keep the screen on all the time? I am trying to use sharp tools, but I keep activating switches every time I tap to wake up the screen. I disabled the OEM wink app.
First off. Josh…thanks for the awesome app! I was hoping you can help me with an issue. I was able to log into it once…everything was working. I rebooted the relay, and now I can’t open the wink relay app anymore. Keeps saying “Unfortunately, wink relay has stopped”. I’ve cleared cache, uninstalled it, reinstalled it. I can connect to the device via smartthings, it says its connected but none of the controls work. Hoping you have a suggestion to fix.
I have been having a similar issue. Try uninstalling kingroot, installing it, re-rooting your device, and giving permission to root access again. It should work after that.
I’m trying to search this question in the forum, do you happen to know how to program the Relay 1 and 2 functions? I would like to customize the buttons to do something other than turn on and off the light switches.
