I have tried both configurations - TX-TX and RX-TX
Finally got it working for both devices! I was making the mistake of plugging in the adapter before pressing the button on the plug. Devices flashed seamlessly once I started with the button depressed. Thanks for your help!
So to recap, you used SonOTA method and flashed his firmware, and then used the 3 ESPEasy bin files in the zip to flash onto your Sonoff devices?
The reason Iām asking is that I donāt have access to a PC and it seems the only way to flash these for me on a Macbook is to go your way.
any help is much appreciated
thanks for all the fantastic work, I finally managed to flash my 5 sonoff and 1 dual and integrated them with my ST, yeah!
they used to be on sonoff-tasmota firmware, and I just grab the bin file and update in its web interface, and voila after few seconds, I am set with new firmware and donāt even have to reconfigure IP (I set all smart devices to a certain IP with static DHCP)
now I am still having 3 sonoff B1 bulb, and still find a way to integrate them into smartthings as well.
Adding to my previous post, Iāve now successfully flashed 5 basicsā and 2 TH16ās with humidity and temp sensors. Sensors seem really accurate. They seem to work flawlessly with Smartthings! At 7 dollars apiece, Iām ordering another 6 pack of ābasicsā for the barns! Thank you erocm1231!
Where are you buying 6 packs?
Hi all
Just wanted to add that I think I found a bug with the newer units.
I can flash absolutely fine with the āalternativeā method, get all set up, added to Smartthings etc etc.
When I change the sensor to AM2301 in the settings and reboot, it crashes. No lights, no Wifi, nothing.
Not sure why itās doing that!
Thanks for all your hard work though.
I get another one from iTead seller on Amazon Thursday. The one I got last week flashed and is controlling a heater with a AM2301 at this moment. Working perfectly.
Yeah, the first one I got works perfectly. The second however seems to be a newer version - didnāt flash properly with the original method but did with the alternative one. Pretty convinced that there is a problem with choosing the sensor though - tried it a few times and needed to re-flash after every one to get it working again
@Bill_Crowder Thanks for documenting this. The last batch of 10A switches I purchased were all newer. I connected them to AC to verify they worked before flashing, then they stopped working. Your method saved them!
i also have another good one. this is now the 2nd sonoff ive been through for my back light, im currently using the 2way switch method and have set it to 2way inside the unit, but now the relay just keeps flicking on and off rapidly then stops then goes again, i know there would be a volt drop from switch point to point and back to terminal point on the device but ive checked that and getting around 3.3v out on GPIO14 to grnd any ideas. mybe the cable run is to long to handle the device? its around 8m.
Excellent effort the Sonoff TH firmware also works fine on the Sonoff S22 switch which has a 3.5mm socket for the temperature and humidity sensor.
These are wired wrong and are switching the neutral, and use the wrong colours for everything inside them. I had one a year or so back like that and thought it must have been a one off stuff up, but ordered 3 more recently and they are the same. Quite dodgey since they will work, but switching the neutral leaves everything live when off.
THX Bill,
just try to flash with some other tools & dout. Nothing woks.
Only the esptool work fine.
Greetings
MikeXXL
There are a bunch of new wifi plugs on amazon that look like the s20. These all have SM-PW701. It has a ESP-12F in it. It doesnt look like it has a header for rx, tx, vcc and ground. Any thoughts?
In the picture I stuck above the left male is the switching pin which is to the live, it goes to L1 on the PCB? Then from L on the PCB to the Left female live pin?
Neutral is the right pin (wrong colour) but going direct to the right pin?
There is a return wire coming back from the Neutral back to the pcb to keep power to the pcb when you switch the sonoff off (cut power to the Left live pin)? You need to keep the PCB live all the time otherwise there is no way to turn it on again once you switch the power off with the app?
I have just about read everything on internet, used 2 downloads of esp, had 2 ftdi adapters yet my sonoff will not enter into program mode. None have had a wifi update they both still work with sonoff app. . . so wont go into program mode. . What am I doing wrong the ftdi shows as com9, unistall reinstall drivers. . reboot PC have added a switch to vcc to turn on/off still no program mode;
so get this in cmd shell
c:\esp2>esptool.exe -vv -cd nodemcu -cb 115200 -cp COM9 -ca 0x00000 -cf Sonoff.ino.generic.bin
esptool v0.4.6 - Ā© 2014 Ch. Klippel ck@atelier-klippel.de
