[OBSOLETE] Iris Smart Plug (3210-L) Zigbee Plug with Z-wave Repeater

Looks like you’re missing code from the copy/paste. Get the raw version if you really need to use a custom DH:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/blebson/Iris-Smart-Plug/master/devicetypes/blebson/iris-smart-plug.src/iris-smart-plug.groovy

I have 5 of these working great, and I’m not using any custom DH. I let it join as a Thing, and then I go into the IDE and change Type to “SmartPower Outlet”. I then perform a factory reset (do not delete the device in the app) and re-inclusion, and bingo it works.

I appreciate the tip about RAW, I was not using that but, yes, I was trying to create a DH.
John,

I appreciate your response also. When I look in the IDE I see the device has both a z-wave and Zigbee network ID as two separate devices. Can you elaborate a little on what you said below. I’m not sure what you mean for me to do.

Having no luck getting them to pair as z-wave. Any tips

Joined as Thing and I switch the DH in the IDE. outlet responds to app.
8 presses gets the led blinking but the hub can’t find it.
removed and reset
Joined using the DH at the top of the post. Outlet responds to app.
8 presses gets the led blinking but the hub can’t find it.

Put the hub in exclusion mode, 8 presses gets the led blinking but nothing happens.

Outlet is within feet of the hub. Hub is in inclusion mode (LED blinking green)

Plus the hub in exclusion mode while its blinking and let it unpair. I have this happen on retail new plugs. I usually pair them with Iris first before moving over to ST, but I still have a working Iris hub at the moment.

Thanks to everyone here for helping me with my issues with this module. It turned out that both zigbee and z-wave had paired with my hub. All I really needed to do was use the correct device type to be able to control it.

Thanks everyone for being so patient with me.

Tried exclusion a few time wit no results. Turns out 5th time is the charm. I watch the hub go into exclusion mode and after a few minutes the light went solid green. App said it was still in exclusion mode. Back out and when I went to pair again it was in the unconfigured page. This is my 4th plug. all the other joined no problem.
I might be having hub problems. On one failed attempt to pair the hub would not leave inclusion mode even after shutting down the app. Had to remove power to clear it.

Anytime! We’re all here to help each other.

For all the discussion on Z-Wave repeater functionality. I am bit tired of the mystery regarding its working. So, gonna remove the zwave repeater devices from ST (particularly since I got some aeon labs controller based zwave repeater now) and repair the whole system. Wish me luck .

Question - were your DH changes ever merged into the DH on Github? My Iris Smart Plugs show “- -” in the Power Used and Time fields in your screenshot.

No, I’ve honestly not had time to work on them. I’ve almost got it working right, but it’s not compiling the total power use correctly.

Can this work as z-wave only switch? I have stuck with all zwave so far since other controllers I have are zwave only.

the switch itself is zigbee and the repeater is z-wave, any reason why you want it to be zwave only?

No, The switch portion is controlled through zigbee, this device only has a zwave repeater

I have stuck with all zwave so far since the other controller (USB z-stick) I have is zwave only. There is a deal thread just popped up, so I am debating getting some of these outlet plugs…

What do you all use these for? I assume you must all have multiple minimotes/tablets to turn these on/off for lamps? I don’t know if they would be too popular in my house if family has to find a tablet to turn on a lamp. I bought a zwave outlet strip (because it was on sale) a while back but haven’t found good use for it yet. I appreciate the feedback!!

These outlet actually report power usage too so you can use that to automate stuff, such as when your phone is charging or an appliance is on etc…

I use them with many different devices like automating bar signs in my basement, to controlling sensi’s, to automating dumb coffee pots, to just extending mesh with nothing plugged in!

I use them and others for ask kinds of things. Need a fan to turn on at bedtime, this will do it. Want those Christmas lights to turn off at a certain…Yep, this will do it.

Automatons are where these come in really handy.

@kevin also best for camera privacy and scheduling. All of my Nest cams have an outlet. They turn on when modes change in ST

Having trouble getting this to Z-wave pair. Unplug it, plug it back in while holding the button, release as soon as it starts blinking and in blinks about 3 times and quits. Never does pair that I can tell. I’ve run the general exclusion a couple of times. Start the exclusion, start pressing the button on the plug multiple times and get the message the device has been excluded. Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong?

As stated in the OP

“Some users have reported than holding down the button doesn’t work and instead they needed to tap the button 8 times rapidly in order to get it into pairing mode”

I was one of the user with this issue and this was the fix to get the zware to pair. Good luck
