Assuming you’re in the latest DTH code, this means that ST is unable to resolve your DNS to an IP address.
You don’t really need to use a public IP, you can use your LAN IP and it’ll work just fine. If you want to stream video through your public IP you can set that half way down the preferences page for video streaming separately.
Why can ST resolve the IP for one camera and not another when the only varience is the IP address?
Are they on the same port number? Only one device can use an external port number.
No… separate ports
Hello,
I’m going to buy Foscam E1 camera, which is a new model similar to Arlo Pro 2. Do anyone have idea if will work with this?
Thanks
Andrea
35 dollar for access my Foscam C1 is costing me 33 dollar. Anybody got a free device handler for the Foscam c1 ? i Only need the Foscam DH and SMart app, i don’t need the other stuff, why pay for it?
Could someone tell me which HD Foscam cameras support POE? i’d like to purchase a few cameras to work with this DTH / SmartApp but need them to be powered over POE due to their location. I currently am using Amcrest cameras however there’s still no good support for these cameras and I’d like to integrate into SmartThings while still being able to record events to my QNAP NAS and not in the cloud. Thank you for any feedback you could provide.
Is it just me or is there about a 1 second delay in the video within smartthings when viewing live video? I picked up two R2’s to replace my Amcrest so I can integrate these into Smartthings. I love the app and the ability to integrate, was just curious on the delay on the video though. Thanks!
Hi,
On the R4, I can get movement control, but the live stream isn’t showing up. On the Foscam setting, on the Onvif setting, I did turn it on, but there is only a onvif port, but no setting for RTSP port.
- What should I set for Onvif port on the foscam web browser setting? 554? or leave 888 ?
- What should I set for the RTSP port on the classic app? Should I set 554 ?
Any help is appreciated.
If there is no RTSP port on the camera then leave it blank, it will use HTTP streaming instead. HD Camera option should be enabled in the ST camera preferences.
On Foscam C2 there isn’t the option for changing the RSTP and the default is 88
That is correct, pasting from the instructions:
FOSCAM C2/R2/FI9900P VIDEO CONFIGURATION (and other SD/HD/Ambarella cameras)
FAQ: These cameras do NOT use Onvif and instead use the HTTP port:
- Open the ST Camera settings page and enter the HTTP port
- Leave the RTSP port blank/empty
I’m having troubles lately with this. I had one C1 camera added to my hub. I gave the camera to a friend, he did the factory reset and re config of the camera. When i got it back i did again the factory reset, added again to my foscam user and connect camera to my network. Im able to use it with Foscam app, but unable to discover it with ST, on the log i got this:

I reinstall the device handler and smartapp, enable oAuth, both camera and Hub are under same network, camera works with fw 2.82.2.33 and its accesible with Foscam app and directly to web app.
Any idea what could be wrong or that i’m missing? Don’t knwo what to do, since it worked before, not sure what changed.
UPDATE4 (8/27): Still waiting a fix from ST, ticket has been registered with ST support (#594098)
UPDATE3: Shout out to @rappleg @Bryce_Geiser @posborne for getting this isolated and fixed. The patch should into production in the next week or two (currently in testing). Will post an update once it’s back up and running.
UPDATE2: ST has tracked down the issue in the platform which caused discovery to stop working. They’re putting in a patch and it should be in production in about a week and discovery should start working again.
UPDATE1: Update on this, the good news is that it doesn’t appear to be a hub firmware issue. It appears to be a recent change in the platform which is causing the trouble with UDP communications. ST’s engineers are trying to track down the root cause.
In the meanwhile skip the discovery and just add the camera IP address and port manually in the next page.
@RBoy is it possible to integrate Foscam Cameras with ST video cloud services ?
See below link for more information.
It has been stated it would be a trial for a certain time. But the concept will be deal-breaker feature for other cloud camera like nest and others.
Please consider looking into this integration seriously.
Thanks.
You can already do live streaming with the DTH.
For clip recordings, sure if ST opens up the API. I will reach out and see if they have any plans of doing so.
Good Afternoon All,
I am relatively new to the ST world and was looking for some advice. I am putting in some smart home and security equipment at our house. So far my equipment list is: ST ADT panel and the switches/motion sensors to go with the monitoring, ring doorbell pro, nest thermostat 3rd gen, and the kwikset smartcode 910. If there is anything I should think about adding or taking away from that list I am open for suggestions.
I would also like some suggestions/info on picking out security cameras. I am thinking about trying to set up an 8CH NVR system from Foscam with cameras for the outside and one or two inside. I have never done anything with a camera system before so I dont really know what equipment in that realm would best fulfill our needs. Ive done a ton of research but its nice hearing from someones personal experience. Im also not trying to spend a fortune doing this so well below $1000.
Should I do dome cameras outside or bullets? resolution recommendations? Foscam camera model suggestions? I would like for the inside camera(s) to maybe have a mic/speaker so that we can talk through it. Or are there other brands I should be looking into? Ill be using Newegg to purchase all of this, not sure if that helps with any of this or not. Thanks in advance!
Also, I will probably be using both ST and ActionTiles loaded onto our iPhones and on a couple Amazon fire tablets or something similar. Mounted to the wall but still moveable. If any of you have any pro tips on something I should consider changing or adding or just really anything with this process I would appreciate the help!
Those are good questions but you should start a new topic, rather than hijacking this one.
Apologies, I started off with a new topic and RBoy told me to try asking for NVR experience on this forum. I also started a new topic the other day and havent gotten any feed back yet. Heres the initial one:
Sorry, didn’t mean to come across as the thread police, just seemed like a lot of unrelated questions.
I have an R2 and it works well with @RBoy’s integration. I don’t use an NVR though.
Happy to share my thoughts on actiontiles in your other thread.
