Yes, I used the code from your site. I will try deleting the foscam device and smart app entirely and see what happens. Thanks. Have you seen anyone else having the same issues as me?
Rboy. works now after the redo… thanks for all your help!
Just installed this device type and the motion app and have everything working there. But I have one question on your other app. “Trigger based Camera Pictures”
Is there anyway you could set up the app to have a switch being turned on as trigger? I have the new Aeon Doorbell and it functions in Smartthings like a switch being turned on. Well, at least a momentary switch… I can already use other trigger apps to turn on a light, etc… when the doorbell is pushed.
I would love to be able to have the camera (which I have mounted outside my front door) take a picture whenever the doorbell is pushed.
Done version 1.0.6
Added support to trigger a camera picture when a momentary switch is pushed.
gblaze
i seem to have the same issue. The camera is showing up and everything but does not detect motion or trigger switches when motion is detected. what did you do to fix it? Thanks
I am having the same issue. have you figured it out?
here is the log
java.util.concurrent.TimeoutException: Execution time exceeded 20 app execution seconds: 331368435262487 @ line 335
most likely it has to do with the execution time. Is there any way to automatically rerun the check motion status automatically if the execution time exceeds 20 seconds?
I too am see this in my logs. Noticed it today. I have been going through ST hell. I am having to power cycle my hub every 24 hours. Getting huge delays at best most of the time. Quite often I get no response to things from the app. I started investigating while support looks into my issues and I ran across the same TimeoutException on several of my cameras. Not blaming the app Foscam app just comparing notes and hoping for some ST relief.
Have you considered moving back to the v1 hub? The slow platform timeout issue seems be impacting v2 hubs
The thought has crossed my mind. If I did not have so many devices I would give it stronger consideration. If things get really bad I might give that a shot. Support has basically told me there is nothing more that they can do and it has been escalated. Very annoyed that they can so quickly break your stuff with one update but the remedy will take months.
SmartApp “Trigger based Camera Pictures”
- added support for taking burst pictures
- added support to trigger on accelleration
Updated the button layout with version 2.2.3, primary control buttons are large, secondary controls are smaller (to avoid screen scrolling).
Hi - I just tried creating the device from your latest version and got this error when I clicked “create”…
No signature of method: script1451848687729451807381.metadata() is applicable for argument types: (script1451848687729451807381$_run_closure1) values: [script1451848687729451807381$_run_closure1@19c5f5e4] Possible solutions: getMetadata(), getState(), setState(java.lang.Object), metaClass(groovy.lang.Closure)
Please advise. Thank you.
Nevermind - I solved my problem. I had previously created a device using other code for Foscam Universal. I deleted it and presto. I was able to publish your code. Thanks!
Version 2.3.0
Added an input parameter for users to enter the motion detection area. This is VERY advanced stuff, if you don’t know leave it blank/empty or default.
Just a note; support from RBoy is impressive. This latest update (2.3.0) to add the motion detection area update was created after an evening email chain with him. ~30 minutes after describing what I wanted to do, he had updated and published the new version. Worked flawlessly right out of the gate. RBoy’s device types and Apps are a bargain.
Man, I wish there was support for my Amcrest camera like this…
I would suggest you start a new thread on Amcrest support. I’ve been looking at the docs for it. It’s very complex and very comprehensive but I see some serious limitations which would limit it’s effectiveness in the current ST platform (not that there aren’t workaround but needs some serious work). Lets discuss on a new thread focussed on Amcrest
Hi RBoy,
Would this Reolink camera work with your Foscam device type and apps?
Also, I made a $10 donation and was able to use my Foscam with your codes. However, I didn’t have a HD camera to be able to test out the video feature. Can you explain how it works if I end up upgrading my camera? Does it take a 30 to 60 second video and then emails it to you? Or does it only show up in the SmartThings app?
